«Heads Up»

Of course! As the name suggest! We’re doing some sort of royalty with infantry sort of love story with of course— f l u f f and s m u t.

Well, maybe not both if you’re not into smut roleplays but eh.

Curse words are a yes.
Mature scenes (gore, blood, decapitation, torture, etc.) are to be expected.
Have triggers? Tell me!
Long responses? Eh… sometimes. You don’t have to reply with five paragraphs or whatever all the time but more than three sentences with some actual context would be nice.
Characters are still in brainstorming so… you can choose whether to be the princess or the knight.
Have any ideas? Tell me!

«Premise of a Story»

Born in a family surrounded by gold, jewelry, and rankings, the princess lives a life a luxury and pride she doesn’t quite enjoy all that much.

On her eighteen birthday, she was guided to see the infantrymen and it was there that she found the love of her life…

However… with her family history, to be in love with a mere soldier of the kingdom seemed… unworthy.

I think that’s honestly it!

(Call it destiny— the way his shovel churned the earth below, like some sort of baleful tide. Call it destiny, the way that his breath rose in the air, so stark against the dreary night’s black. Call it destiny, the way he looked to the grave with tired, melancholic eyes. How his muscles ached and the pain seemed to caress every last bone. The way his clothes hung loosely from his frail body. How he could barely feel himself shiver; just the last dregs of a conscious corpse, forgotten long ago.)
(But alas, call it destiny— for the grave he dug was for no one other than himself.)
(This one’s hella dark and uses way too much repetition but it’s like… the only recent writing of mine I have lol)

As the horns would sound the arrival of the princess, the soldiers and guards turned to the chariot and bowed. Today was the first day that princess had been somewhere outside of palace grounds. It was truly a new sort of experience for her. Her right hand man informed her that today, they had some new soldiers in the army who will show their respect towards her like the other soldiers have done before in the past.

Valentine seemed fairly bored by the event. For one, she was never a fan of many people in one place and two, it smelled like sweat, blood, and tears around the area. When the chariot stopped, the door had opened and she walked out of it, looking blankly at the army of some hundred men in front of her as they bowed.

Korren nearly missed the cue but bowed regardless, his eyes lingering on the princess for just a bit too long before he adverted them. Not that he wasn’t a person to pay respects, but this was just… the first time he had seen her. Sure, the commander had mentioned the royal family once or twice, or a few hundred times, but Korr had never been in direct contact with the woman. And sure, this wasn’t direct, but it was closer than before. After all, being next to the commander, he was in the front row. Not that he was extremely high position, but being a tactician was an important role to play.
He was hot in his armor, the heat biting at his skin as the sun basically cooked the metal from the inside out. Heavy gear had never been his forte, but training with it for so long had certainly left it’s mark— a few toned muscles stationed just below his skin, that twitched as he took hold of his sword hilt and stood back upright.

The princess’ eyes narrowed around at the field, noticing some… interesting faces among the new lines of tacticians and archers. She stepped down from where she was to come greet them, starting from the left of the field and making her to each of them. The soldiers she greeted took off their helmets before bowing personally to her. She then came to Korren with a genuinely unfazed expression at the dirty helm.
“Take off your helm, please,” she spoke. Her tone was rather… cute, for someone her rank.

Korren did as he was told, blonde strands of hair falling into his sunken amber eyes. The color was relatively prominent among his angular features and blended well with his brazen skin, dotted with the smallest constellations of freckles. Usually, he was either smiling or offering one of his mischievous grins, but for the time being, he kept himself stoic. Even as the princess’ voice lingered in his ears, threatening to stay there for as long as they pleased.
He let out a low bow, breath quickening in just the slightest as he tucked his helmet into his arm. The metal plates clicked together, reflecting the sun directly onto his face to reveal a few scars.
“Her Royal Highness,” Korren addressed in a voice so melodic it almost seemed like a hum.

Her eyes widened for a moment when the tactician showed his face. Of all those she have seen in the front row, this one seemed the most… physically attractive. He also seemed quite friendly as well, unlike some of others from earlier who looked as if they wanted her. Her cheeks actually blushed seeing him. She stared at his form for a long… long time before offering him a small smile and moving on to the next soldier.

When she finished, the princess headed back to the chariot and was about to head back inside the chariot. She turned to look at the field of soldiers one more time before turning to her right hand man, whispering something. He nodded and sent her off back to the palace.

The right hand man of the princess, Vincent, rushed back down to the field and came behind Korren, tapping his shoulder and whispering.
“After the training, please report to me in the royal grounds. The princess would like to have a small word with you,”

Korren met her eyes as best he could, the edges of his mouth curving in to just the faintest of smiles. He was reluctant to see the princess move on, chest tightening with each breath he took, and eyes following her as she walked away.
It wasn’t very long before she left, however, and Korren was about to turn away when her right hand man spoke words he only dreamed to hear.
“I— Ah, yes, sir,” Korren replied, dipping his head. He had to forcibly hide his blatant curiosity, amber eyes gleaming with so many questions. Not so much as stolen glances between the two, and now he could actually meet the princess with less formalities.

Vincent nodded to his soft response and went back on the path, getting on his horse and heading back towards the palace grounds. Of course, it wasn’t going to be long after that the training continued.

Arriving back at the castle, Valentine got off the chariot and let out a silent sigh. Her right hand man would arrive not too long after her. Getting off the horse, he turned and nodded to her, indicating that he had done as she had requested.
“Thank you Vincent,” she replied before she went into the castle, changing into a more comfortable dress than the one she’d been wearing.

Some hours passed by like the wind as she was waiting for someone to arrive. At least, to hear from her officers that the person who had caught her eyes really came.

After training, earning just a few more scrapes and bruises, Korren sat in the courtyard waiting for Vincent. He had been ridded of his armor, in just a simple tunic— a little more high-end than the one beneath the plates previously.
His wrist was wrapped in bandages, at the chipped place where his gauntlet met his chain mail, where a sword could easily slip through. And it had, but just enough that it only left him with a small wound. Nothing that couldn’t heal in a few days.
Upon seeing the right-hand man, Korren stood up and dipped his head in greeting yet again, unable to hide another faint smile.
“My salutations, sir,” he said calmly. “May I ask why I was summoned?”

Vincent, once again arriving with his horse, had smiled and nodded in greetings to the soldier. He got off the horse and sighed softly. The man was somewhere around his early thirties or late twenties, an age that wasn’t exactly young nor actually old.

“Apologies, but I’m afraid I can’t quite answer that. This is the first time the princess has ever requested something like this so I can’t entirely be sure,” he spoke with a small grin. “But… she seemed to like you when you were on the field, young man. Nothing to worry about I’m sure,” he took hold of the horse with a lead and started walking with the man before turning to Korren again.
“What’s your name, young man?

Korren took a deeper breath, letting himself smile and relax. This was an extremely unusual setting, but Vincent seemed casual enough— so for the time being, he’d take advantage of that relaxed atmosphere.
“Korren York, sir,” he replied, voice a low accompaniment to the sound of their footsteps, along with the sharp clop of horse hooves.
It was very settling to know he was at least on the princess’ good side. At least Vincent seemed in good spirits about it, so Korren figured the “news” or “reasoning” would be positive. Or just simply not negative. Korr really couldn’t put his finger on it— every idea and inkling he had seemed much too farfetched for the simplicity of his current life.

“Mhm… a wonderful name for a young growing lad like yourself,” the man laughed a bit as they continued down the path. Most of the travel had been quiet. Nothing was coming out from either side of the conversation and so it was rather quiet.
“We’re here young man,” Vincent spoke before letting his horse go roam freely in the field beside the castle. He told one of his awaiting visitors to escort the soldier to the waiting room and told another to inform the princess of the tactician’s arrival.

Korren walked alongside Vincent, not entirely sure what to think about the situation. As they kept stepping closer and closer to the doors, his heart beat continuously faster. Perhaps it was nerves, or perhaps he just wanted to catch just one more glimpse of the princess.
“Thank you, sir,” Korr replied, ever-polite with his formalities. He stepped aside, next to his escort, smiling as kindly as he could muster.
In reality, his body was aching. Training had been a little more than harsh, his wounds stinging moderately as he moved. Though, with the situation at hand, it was hard to notice.

When the tactician arrived in the waiting room, the officer left him and closed the door.

After a little while, a small knock would come from outside the door as the door opened just slightly. The red eye and pink hair of the princess can be seen poking through the small gap.
“H-Hi…” she let out softly, not daring to open the door fully yet.

Korren had a brief moment of freeze where he wasn’t sure to bow or just stand there. He quickly decided on bowing, although it came as a more stiff, forced motion.
“Hello, Her Highness,” he said, flicking his eyes back up to meet hers. He stood up straight once more, leaving his arms behind his back and offering a smile. “M-May I ask why I was called in today…?”
