Val tilted her head and scooted over, patting the spot next to her "I've been here since we got back from the lake. Just doing some research." She pointed to a stack of books near the desk.
The queen and her dragon (open)
Drake looked at the books before taking a seat, "Research on what, exactly?"
She shrugged "history on the dragon lands and of it's people, something's been nagging me about the man I met in the greenhouse and his similarities to your abilities. Plus I might as well brush up on some history while we're under threat. Might be something there that could help."
Drake rubbed the back of his neck, chuckling slightly nervously, "Ah yeah… well, always good to know your history…"
She nodded "you're sure you're ok? You're not one to be nervous." She noted
He pouted a little, "I'm fine…" He mumbled, crossing his arms over his chest.
"sure you are, drake." She teased, looking him over once more "you know I'm not going to drop it, right?"
"You're smart, I'm sure you could figure it out if you thought about it really hard."
"yeah, lately that hasn't been working out quite right," she muttered with a sigh
“With the way you’re going at these books you’ll figure it out.”
Val tilted her head slightly. She thought about what she had read and about Drake's abilities to shift. She had never seen what Drake could turn into when he let his dragon side take over, only seeing Drake as a dragon. She glanced down at the ground "what do you know about the dragon named Kerrian?"
Drake looked off to the side, blushing slightly from embarrassment which made his dragon chuckle, "Ah, right yeah," He coughed, "You could uh… y-you could say we're…" He swallowed, "P-Pretty close…"
Val tilted her head back in regardment "how close?" She asked softly
Drake chewed on his lower lip, "S-Same being close…"
"Drake…" She prompted, starting to hate this "what are you not telling me."
He sighed and rubbed his face, "He's my other half! He's… he's my dragon…"
Val blinked, the events and notes she had written down all falling into place. She stood up and headed to the desk, organizing the notes "why didn't you just tell me?" She asked softly, trying to contain what little control she had left
Drake shrugged, fiddling with his fingers, "The night in the green house, I wasn't planning on letting Kerrian out. And then I guess I wanted you to meet him without any thoughts of me interfering with how you perceived him."
She shook her head "any thought of you interfering?" She huffed a laugh "you say that like it's a bad thing." She turned and leaned on the desk, just watching Drake.
Again the shifter shrugged, rubbing his face with both hands, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have lied."
She sighed and looked away "you don't need to be sorry. You didn't have to tell me. I'm the one who pried." She sat at the rest and opened the book "I'm guessing this was you?" She asked, pointing at the ripped pages in the book
Drake looked up and frowned before shaking his head, "No, that wasn't me."
She tilted her head "Kerrian?" She asked, waving the book a bit
He was silent for a moment, "He says he didn't do it either."
"hm, must've been Liren then. Probably hiding something." She shrugged "whatever, he's dead."
He nodded, though didn't look convinced, "Yeah… probably."
She arched her eyebrow in a silent question but said nothing more as she discarded the notes she'd taken
Drake sighed softly, walking over to her. His eyes turned more dragon like, pupils turning into slits as an indication that Kerrian has taken over.
"so how come you chose to come out now and not before?" Val asked, glancing up at him and watching his movements
Kerrian shrugged, biting his lip to show sharp, dragon like teeth and a pointed tongue, "It wasn't wise to come out before."
