It was supposed to be a one night stand. Nothing but revenge sex, to get back at the boy who broke her heart. How was she supposed to predict falling in love with him?

Estelle De Vos has had her heart broken more times than she can count. Just when she thought things were going great and finally looking up for her, she found herself standing amidst the rubble of the best, and longest, relationship she had ever been in, along with her entire future. Her fiancé had cheated on, and then left, her. With and for her younger sister.

So she followed the advice her late mother had given her once upon a time. And she slept with his best friend.

It was a one time thing, meant to be one last 'fuck you' to her ex before she cut ties with him and anyone involved with him. But things didn't quite work out that way, because no matter how hard she tries, she keeps running into her ex's best friend. And suddenly the reminders of finding her fiancé in bed with her sister aren't the only things she had to deal with. Sexual tension between her and a man she shouldn't even speak to, her probably crazy step-mother, and finding a date to her own best friend's wedding are all combining in what's either bad karma, or just bad timing. Maybe a mix of both.

Now she just has to figure out which to listen to, her heart, or her head, when it comes to the complicated tangle of feelings and pieces of her future she's trying to pick up.

If worst comes to worst, she could just listen to her step-mother.

  1. No Mary/Gary Sues/Stues are a hard nope from yours truly.

  2. Proper grammar, punctuation, and capitalization, please. I can get making a few mistakes, when you're tired, or English ain't your first language(It's mine, and even I have my issues), but if it's too common a thing, it irks the hell outta me. Call me a bitch, but hey.

  3. Slurs, homophobia, transphobia, rascism, sexism, anything that ends in -ism and that harms or promotes the harm of other people will not be tolerated. See my first threat. However! For plot devices, it might be considered, if you talk to me about it first.

  4. Detailed-ish responses, please. Think three or more sentences. To keep it going.

  5. Please, be on fairly often. Vacations, school, and jobs are all things I can get, but I'd like for this to have a regular pace!

  6. Rated Spicey for just that, Spicey things. Whether it be mature topics, smexy things, or, gasp, blood, this is the only warning I'll remember to give.

  7. Please keep the plot going! It's really hard for me to be invested in a roleplay if the other person reacts more than acts, and I'm excited about this premise and would love to keep it going as long as I can.

  8. I have the full right to add and edit this list. I also have the right to boot you if you're causing too many problems.

Ignore the dramatic af title, it was just a step up from the last one, and something I came up with at three in the morning when I awoke to my cat, chewing on my toes.
I'll answer any questions for those who want to join, and a temp will come if anyone does!

@croccin-champagne

@Fraust

Sure lol. This looks pretty fun. Would you like a writing sample or anything?

@gracehustle

@croccin-champagne

and grace-gjhds thamk. the idea came to me late at night while i was eating coleslaw in the dark kitchen lmao. love having my characters live lives i could never

@Fraust

Alrighty, I'll steal something from one of my most active roleplays, gimme a second

@Fraust

Nathaniel was honestly a little intimidated by how small he felt in this room, but he didn't let it show in anything other than slightly tightening his grip on Nikolas's hand. His wandering gaze fell upon the woman first. He supposed it was her blue hair that had caught his eye, though none of Nikolas's friends seemed to like dressing like 'ordinary people'. Nathaniel couldn't exactly judge, though, as he wasn't even human himself. After sizing her up, he let his eyes wander to the unfamiliar male. The piercings caught the light and they intrigued him, but he couldn't help but wonder how inconvenient they'd be to live with. Neither of them looked particularly friendly, but he didn't let that perturb him. After all, he'd picked fights with taller people than them and succeeded.

He supposed he should introduce himself, but had to contemplate for a few seconds. These people didn't know him, obviously. They were Nikolas's friends, and he and Nikolas were only newly dating. He didn't know how it worked down here, exactly, but in heaven, generally people would to introduced to others by the mutual acquaintance. His wings shifted a little as he thought, and he eventually decided to just glance up to Nikolas for help. His blue eyes sparkled with questioning, and his coppery cloud of hair tumbled into them from the light wind that had carried them inside.

(Keep in mind that I probably couldn't write to this level constantly, and I usually adjust length of replies depending on my roleplay partner)

@croccin-champagne

i'm sorry for being insanely picky, but your writing style just isn't quite what i'm looking for this time around

@Fraust

Alright, no problem!

@gracehustle

@gracehustle

One last question before I fill this out, what character am I playing? Girl or guy?

@croccin-champagne

A guy. I'm using a half baked idea for a character, which is my girl Essie. You would be her ex's best friend

@gracehustle

Sounds good! I'll get my character up as soon as I can!

@gracehustle

Name: Thomas Klend
Nickname: Tom
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Appearance: (https://i.pinimg.com/564x/47/7d/cb/477dcb0cc451b919fcf5a67008f77975.jpg) Thomas is a decently tall guy, standing at 6'0", with light blonde hair and equally light blue eyes. With a slim nose and an average build, he gives off the look of a guy who is pretty active and fun.
Usual Outfit: When he's home, it's usually no shirt and joggers, when he's out…usually tshirt and joggers, a sweatshirt if its cold, and just tennis shoes
Personality: Tom is a pretty smart guy, though can have very dumb moments. He both hates having to work and loves it since it gives him something to do. He also acts like a grown up little kid when he's comfortable around people. Can become standoffish if he doesn't like someone and has been known to both pick fights and sometimes hook up with girls if he's in the mood and has nothing else to do.
Cutest habit: He'd say his messy hair and definitely great dancing skills
Dislikes: Spiderwebs. Not spiders, just their webs. Also dislikes wet shoes/getting his clothes wet. Also dislikes trying to make outfits that match.
Favorite…
• Color: A dark, royal blue
• Book: Doesn't have a favorite
• Animal: Dogs
• Item: His bike (Cherry red in color which matches his car)
• Place to be: Out on the trails when he's mountain biking
• Weather: Sunny and warm
• Word: (lol I'll get one in here)
Jobs: He's an electrician and also works at a friends bar to earn some pocket cash sometimes
Theme Song: (lol gotta remember the name of the song)
Flaws: Doesn't usually answer messages right away and also doesn't like dressing up very fancy
Other: He's still best friends with Essie's ex
(Finally done lol….does he work?)

@croccin-champagne

he works, yeah! and yes, you can add a picture, for sure

@gracehustle

Ok!!

@croccin-champagne

Name: Estelle De Vos

Nickname: Essie

Age: 23

Gender: Female

Appearance:

Hair Color/Style: Blonde hair, on the paler side. It naturally bounces between wavy and sort of curly, with the curls getting unruly when her hair is wet, or when she's just woken up. It's longer, down to a little below her shoulderblades.

Eye Color/Shape: Has heterochromia, sectoral to be specific, which splits each iris in half. Her eyes are half ice blue, half pale spring green. They're rounded, with a slight upturn.

Skintone: Lighter, usually, but tans well in the summer.

Build: Soft. Slightly willowy, maybe too thin, but most people don't notice.

Height: 5'3

Jewelry/Piercings: Her ears, and her conch. Has a tongue piercing as well, but most people obviously don't know about it. Wants to get more. Her mother's ring, and her engagement ring, until she gave it away.

Tattoos: Has a small crown tattooed behind her right ear. This along her spine, right between her shoulderblades, a tattoo she got in high school.

Scars: Small scar over her left eyebrow from falling out of a tree as a kid. Scars from mundane little accidents. Has a couple scars on her ribs from getting stabbed during a mugging gone wrong.

Usual Outfit: In true LA fashion, shorts constantly. Didn't wear cropped tops often because Lukas didn't like them, but now loves wearing them. Tank tops and camisoles/light shawls often, along with strappy sandals or tennis shoes. Doesn't wear dresses often, but does appreciate a good sundress. Not too much jewelry, because she was told it was 'too flashy'. Wears her hair up.

Personality: More extroverted, thrives with large groups of people. Cares deeply for the family she has left, and has learned that if someone screws you over, don't give them a second chance. Extremely loyal until then, though. Has a slightly manipulative streak, and won't hesitate to use it for revenge if she feels like it's worth it. Otherwise prefers avoiding revenge and things of that nature. Secretly a hopeless romantic.

Cutest habit: It's either the way she bites her lip when she's thinking or flustered, or it's her habit of wearing clothing that's too big when she's at home, especially if it's stolen from a friend.

Dislikes: The smell of burnt things, the color grey, carrots with a burning passion. Drunk men. Jokingly, people taller than her.

Favorite…
Color: Blood red.
Book: North of Beautiful. It was a book she and her younger sisters, both step and blood, read together.
Animal: Butterflies.
Item: Her mother's ring.
Place to be: Her backyard, under the stars.
Weather: Clear and warm. Likes clear summer nights, and the cool summer breezes that cut through the warmth.
Word: Eccedentesiast.

Jobs: Wedding planner, funny enough. Occasionally performs at bars for extra cash, but Lukas(her ex) didn't like her doing that, so she sort of dropped off for a while.

Theme Song: Bloom, by Surfaces, is one that fits a little bit later. But Since U Been Gone by Kelly Clarkson is a more present/right after breakup theme.

Flaws: Maybe a bit too jaded, too quick to jump to revenge after what her ex did. Doesn't open up to anyone without 'proof' that it's worth it.

Other: Has a dog.

@gracehustle

Ooo she's awesome!

@croccin-champagne

thanks! when should we start? i was thinking, either right after the breakup(maybe even with a pre-scene of her catching Lukas cheating), or after the one night stand thing?

@gracehustle

I like the idea of right after the breakup, though I'm not sure how to weave Tom in there or if he should just be doin his own thing for the first reply or whatever?

@croccin-champagne

i mean like, the after where she decides to take her mother's advice. whether they showed up at the house/apartment at the same time for different reasons, or she shows up at his place half-drunk and with revenge in mind

@gracehustle

I like that second option if you're up for it lol, it sounds like it would be a fun thing to basically start with.

@croccin-champagne

then that it shall be!

@croccin-champagne

Essie was drunk.

Well, not fully drunk. More like…very, very buzzed. But the point still stood. And her reason for getting drunk was definitely a valid one, in her opinion. Seriously, what girl wouldn't want to go out and blow a paycheck on straight whiskey when she'd just found her fiancé in the bed she shared with him, with her step sister?

If that didn't make sense, then she was either drunker than she thought, or everyone around her was just really judgy.

The only problem was, most girls who found their husband-to-be cheating on them didn't also find themselves half drunk and at his best friend's house.

Let alone fully planning to sleep with him.

There was a method to Essie's madness, though, even if it made no sense right now. She was here for revenge.

So she knocked on the door. Once, twice, three times, and adjusted the dress she'd dug out of her closet before going out. At least I don't look like a mess. That would be a big issue.

@gracehustle

Tom had finally sat down and relaxed into the couch, his hair still damp from his shower. After working for almost the entire day straight, he was ready for some time relaxing and not being bothered.

Needless to say, Thomas was surprised when he heard a knock on the door. Then a second knock, and a third. He wasn't going to answer the door since he had just gotten comfortable, but the knocking was getting slightly annoying. And so, he got up and headed to the door, expecting one of his buddies or some sales person. He was quite surprised when he saw Essie at his door though, wearing a good looking dress and smelling suspiciously of alcohol.

"Hey, Essie, what's up? Where's Lukas?" He asked, noticing as he stood there that he didn't have a shirt on. It was weird that Lukas wouldn't have texted him about coming over but he smiled anyway. It was also weird that he would've brought Essie with too, but hey, she was cool to hang around with too.

@croccin-champagne

"He's not here." Essie said, shrugging a shoulder and running a hand through her hair. It really only made it messier, but there was something almost charming about the type of mess. "We had a…disagreement, of sorts." He was cheating on me, with my sister. "Then work called. So I'm alone tonight. Do you mind if I hang out?" She asked, her voice adopting just a slight purr. With the tilt of her head and the way she batted her lashes slightly, she looked slightly innocent. Like she didn't have a plan up her sleeve.
