The air in the room was cold and damp, like one would expect a basement to be.
About a dozen beds— no, cots— lined the walls on either side of the room, but only eight of them were occupied. Five males. Three females. It was about time for each individual to wake up and find themselves in this foreign place, to look around and see only strangers and the unknown. Then again, there wasn't much to see aside from the gray concrete walls and the matching floor.
Oh, but it had just begun. There would be much more to see soon enough.
There were technological implants in each of their arms— their left forearms, to be precise— but the immediate purpose of these little devices were unclear, and removing them would be impossible.
Besides, it wouldn't be long before they'd have more important things to worry about than the implants in their bodies. The doctor was just respectful enough to wait until they woke up. After all, it would be awhile before they'd sleep soundly again.

Mathias slowly woke up, grunting slightly as he did. He was immediately shocked with fear when he did. This wasn’t the small shack he lived in. It looked better, yes, but the scenery of such a new place scared him.
He curled up in the corner part of the bed, shaking as he looked around. Gray. Gray. All was gray. Most was concrete.
He was concerned as to what was on his forearm, sure, but waking up somewhere he didn’t know? That’s a big ‘no’ from him.
Faith soon woke up. Once she opened her eyes, though knowing it wasn’t her house, she felt relieved if anything. She was glad to not wake up to a household who treated her like a slave, to a family where she can’t fit in, to a group of people to made her want to run away… and she did.
But now…? She wasn’t sure where she was. And neither was the dude on one of the other beds as well.
He looked like a drug addict. Yeah. That was probably what he was.
She glanced down to see something attached to her left arm. She wasn’t as shocked as she was excited. It looked new and shiny and… well, it was new.
