"Okay." Mycah nodded, continuing to follow the path they had taken there, minus the stop at the clothing shop. They tried not to speed, but the thought that there were people right behind them didn't make it easy. Thankfully, this city was full of cars exactly like the one Mycah and Winter were in, so they blended in. Soon, though, they could hear sirens echoing around the city. Who knew how long their stolen cover would last?

@ElderGod-Icefire

Winter was bouncing one foot, waiting. "Do you know where we can go to lay low?" he asked, looking over at Mycah and raising his eyebrows, putting the daggers away.

"Not a specific place, but there are some really small towns near the sea cliffs where we could go. The people there aren't really that invested in politics, so it would be the ideal place to go," Mycah said, turning a corner. The buildings were getting smaller– they were close to leaving the city. "What do you think?"

@ElderGod-Icefire

Winter nodded. "That works." He replied, glancing over at them for a moment, then away again, letting out a breath. "Are we going to part ways once we arrive, or what?"

"Good. I don't know. I wouldn't mind your company, but if you have somewhere to go, that's fine." Mycah pressed down on the gas pedal once they'd left the city, speeding through the dark night. The sirens had faded once they left the city, which relieved a great deal of stress.

@ElderGod-Icefire

"I don't have anywhere I need or want to go, no." he replied slowly. "So long as you're alright with a possessed murderer living with or near you." he flashed a small, tight smile.

"Eh, it would make life more interesting." Mycah shrugged, turning onto a different road. "I could use someone as weird and damaged as I am." They gave Winter a wry smile.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Winter laughed quietly. "Ah, yes. Interesting is one way to put it, I suppose." he responded, shaking his head just a little bit.

"Mmm." Mycah nodded, pressing down even more on the gas pedal. The landscape passed on a dark blur. Mycah tried to avoid passing through any towns, which would make it take even longer. But the extra security was worth it.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Winter was quiet as they drove, watching out the window and rearview for anyone following them. He didn't see anyone, but it was still best to keep an eye out.

It was just before dawn when the ocean came into view. Mycah guessed they still had about a half day of driving left before they reached the village Mycah had in mind. "How good of an idea would it be to take a small break?" They asked, trying to keep the weariness out of their voice.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Winter looked over, and nodded. "Hm? Okay." he replied with a slow stretch, shaking his head a little bit. He took a deep breath.

Mycah sighed in relief and pulled over in the next safe-ish place they could. They parked the car and leaned their head back for a few seconds. "I'm going to take a quick nap. If you need to, go ahead," they said, looking over at Winter.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Winter nodded. "Alright." he replied simply. He decided to at least try, even if he wasn't sure he'd get much. He closed his eyes, leaning back in his seat.

Mycah closed their eyes, hoping they would fall asleep quickly. And even though they'd had an exciting night, that wish was granted. Almost as soon as they closed their eyes, Mycah was fast asleep.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Winter eventually fell asleep in his chair, curled on his side with his head leaning on his shoulder.

Mycah slept surprisingly well for a person who saw and killed the person who had caused them so much pain. They woke up a few hours later, feeling quite refreshed.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Winter was awake already, sitting up in his seat and scanning the horizon, keeping an eye out for any potential threats. He crossed his arms loosely over his chest.

"Did you see anyone who appeared as though they were looking for us?" Mycah asked, stretching as much as they could. Although they knew generally where they were going, they didn't know the exact town yet. Knowing if the government was looking in this place for them would help narrow down the options.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Winter shook his head slightly. "I did not. We should be fine, for now." he replied, taking a deep breath and stretching. He looked over at Mycah calmly.

"Perfect." Mycah nodded and turned the car on. That meant that they could both stop in a larger town if they wanted. Mycah would figure out which town exactly they would stop at as they got closer to one of them.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Winter was quiet, and got buckled again. He didn't say a word for a while, then said, "So what exactly is our plan now?" he asked slowly.

"I don't really know," Mycah admitted. "I never thought I'd get this far. But I'm just going to drive as far away from the capital as I can without leaving the country." They shrugged. "Do you have any ideas?"

@ElderGod-Icefire

He laughed a little, and shook his head. "No, I…really don't." he replied, glancing over at Mycah, then back ahead again. "We can go wherever you like."

"Well, then. I guess… Let's stop at Merilla for some food, then continue on to Sutoni." Mycah nodded slightly, and turned into the scenic road. It would take longer, but less people went on it. They felt a small spark of hope appear in their heart at the thought of Sutoni. They'd only been there once, for a mission, but it's beauty had stuck in their mind.

@ElderGod-Icefire

"Alright." he hadn't been to either of those places, that he rememebred, but it still sounded like a good enough plan, he supposed. He spun one dagger idly between his fingers, leaning his head on the window.

The road slowly rose away from the ocean as the cliffs got taller. Mycah rolled their window down, filling the car with the fresh air coming off the ocean. It filled them with a sense of calm, and the hours of driving faded into a peacefully blur.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Winter was quiet, though he inhaled softly when Mycah rolled the window down, enjoying the clean smell of the ocean air.

A town appeared in the distance, starting on the edge of the cliffs and spreading inland. "There's Merilla," Mycah said, slowing down the car slightly. They didn't want to get pulled over by the local police for speeding. "If we can find a car here to replace this one, it would be even better."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Winter nodded slightly. "Alright." he replied, sitting up again and looking at the town with slightly narrowed eyes. "I can help look for a new car."
