Ashley laughed and poked him in the arm playfully. “Oh, yes. I can feel your muscles growing from the burger,” she teased before sticking a few fries in her mouth.

Lucas gasped.
“Hey! That was so mean!” Okay, so he didn’t go to the gym, but he was fit! Maybe he wasn’t as fit as he liked to be, but he was! “How rude, Ashley. Making fun of your boyfriend’s non-existent abs.”
“Aw, sorry, babe,” Ashley laughed, kissing his cheek. “Next time I’ll make fun of your amazing dancing, okay?”
Lucas rolled his eyes.
“And how does that make anything better?”
Ashley shrugged, chuckling. “I dunno, babe. But maybe we should just eat.”
Lucas nodded, taking another bite of his burger before taking a sip of his drink.
Soon, they were done and ready to go back to college.
“Ugh…” Ashley groaned when she’d finished. “I don’t want to go back to school… I want to stay with you…”
Lucas nodded in understanding.
“I know,” he agreed sullenly. “Me neither, but we have to.”
“I know,” Ashley sighed dramatically as she stood. “You ready, then?”
Lucas nodded and stood up, linking their fingers together. Finally, they reached their college.
Ashley parked the car and Lucas stretched.
“Well, I suppose I’ll see you after school now,” he commented sadly.
Ashley hummed and leaned over to kiss him softly. “I’ll see you later. Let me know when you get out of class?”
Lucas kissed her back before pulling away.
“I will,” he nodded, caressing her cheek softly. “Unless you get out before I do.”
“Well, you’ll still have to let me know. What if I’m changing when you get home?” Ashley chuckled, using the phrase she had so many times before they moved in together.
Lucas laughed, remembering the time he barged in on her when she was in her room. She got startled and used that phrase, even when her father came in without knocking.
“Well, no worries,” he said instead, winking. “It’s not like I’ll be seeing anything I haven’t before.”
Ashley rolled her eyes with a light laugh. “Honestly, I might just lay around in my underwear anyway,” she joked sticking her tongue out at him.
Lucas turned a little pink before shaking his head.
“You do that and I guarantee you, we won’t be coming out of our room in a long time,” he said in a threatening voice. “See you then, Ash!”
Ashley blinked a few times, her cheeks reddening at the sudden statement. He’d caught her off guard with it, which was the main reason she was blushing.
“Wait, Luca! You can’t just say something like that and walk away!” she exclaimed as she stumbled out of the car.
Lucas laughed and waved goodbye at Ashley, winking at her. Most of the times, it was Ashley teasing him, so he felt good being the one to cause her to blush.
“Why don’t you catch up to me, then, love?”
“Rude,” Ashley called, though she was laughing as she hurried to catch up to him. “Maybe I’ll just lock myself in the bathroom if you’re going to play this way.”
Lucas scoffed.
“Right, assuming I would let you,” he grinned at her playfully. “And besides, why would you torture yourself just to take revenge on me?”
“Who said it would be torture?” Ashley jokes as she caught up to him. “Okay, now you owe me for what you said back there. C’mon, pay up, babe.”
Lucas looked at her with an eyebrow raised.
“With what?” He raised an eyebrow, although he had inkling feeling as to what his girlfriend wanted.
Ashley chuckled and grinned at him. She stopped, holding onto his arm so that he would, too, and puckered her lips playfully.
Lucas laughed and dipped his head to press his lips against Ashley’s.
“Am I forgiven now, girlfriend?”
Ashley hummed and pulled him back. After another moment, she released him, smiling.
“Yes, boyfriend. Now you are forgiven,” she chuckled. “C’mon. Let’s get to class.”
(Time skip!)
By the time school finished, Lucas was deeply frustrated. He'd worked so hard to finish his performance flawlessly, and he tripped. He tripped and ruined everything he worked hard for. That A he was looking forward to turned into a B.
It probably was a bad idea to drive his car back home, but Lucas didn't care. Once he reached his apartment, he jammed his keys into the keyhole, opened the door, walked inside and slammed it shut.
Ashley jumped at the sound of the door slamming shut and sighed heavily. She had started to get a headache during her class after lunch, and it had slowly gotten worse throughout the day. And now she couldn’t figure out the answer to one of her problems, no matter what she tried, and it was driving her insane.
“Could you please not slam the door, Lucas? I’m trying to think and not die from my headache over here,” she called from the couch.
Lucas scowled and hug his keys on the wall.
"Right, my bad," he muttered under his breath, taking off his shoes and socks without bothering to arrange them properly. He walked into the kitchen, and with the scowl still present on his features, opened the fridge to get out the bottle of orange juice. He poured himself a glass and drank it before sighing loudly and setting it in the sink. He should have asked Ashley how she was, but at that moment, he was too furious with himself.
Ashley sighed and rubbed at her head before going back to her homework. The numbers and letters swam before her eyes, and she decided then that it was probably a good idea to stop. If she didn’t, she would just throw up or something.
Closing her book, she set in on the couch beside her and made her way to the kitchen. She avoided meeting Lucas’s gaze as she opened the cupboard by the fridge for some ibuprofen. After looking around for a moment, she closed it slowly.
“We need more ibuprofen… If you need me, I’m going to be in our room,” she murmured, turning to leave.
Lucas furrowed his eyebrows and grabbed her wrist, making sure it wasn't tight enough to hurt her. As angry as he was, he couldn't bring himself to ignore his girlfriend when she wasn't feeling well.
"I'm sorry," he said softly. "I'll go get you some Ibuprofen. You drink some water. I'll be right back, all right?"
