Kye looked at the map and tried to figure out where they were, and where they were headed. He wasn't the best at reading maps, but he knew the jist of it. He also looked at the tree that had seemed to make Hunter so unhappy. "Bad memories?" he asked. "You do not need to answer if you do not want to."

She ignored him. Carefully folding the piece of paper back into the map, she ran her finger along until she got to a certain spot. Pursing her lips, she nodded to herself, then folded the map back up and stuck it back into her bag. She turned to the guy. "It doesn't matter. It's none of your business, anyway."
"Make the camp where you want. I don't care." She moved over to the griffin and started to rub the her down, before scratching under the creature under its neck until it purred contentedly. Hunter shook her head and almost smiled, then remembered that there was a person there.
(Time skip? To the morning?)
Kye noticed her like for the creature and gave a half smile again before setting up a camp for them. After he had a place for them to sleep he sat on the ground and started listening. Listening to the sounds of the forest and farther. He listened to the ground as creatures walked over it. A large cave system was under them, and from the sounds of it, one little earthquake would cave in some parts including the part they were at.
Hunter opened her eyes, laying still for a moment and staring at the slowly lightening sky. She sighed. She couldn't wait for this to be over so she could - so she could do what? There was nothing back on earth for her except street fighting. All the other worlds had none of her friends anymore. They were all dead. One of the downsides of being immortal. She turned over onto her side, spotted Kye, and was reminded of the task at hand. Groaning quietly, she got up, stretching, and almost went to wake up the man. She stopped, though, deciding for some strange reason to let him sleep a little longer, and went to break camp. When everything was clean, and a rabbit roasting over a fire, she moved over to him. She nudged him with her toe. "Time to get up. We need to leave."
(I am about to cause problems for them.)
Kye opened his eyes, but didn't move. He felt something under him, it felt wrong. That's when he heard the cracking sound through the ground. He slowly moved until he was in a sitting position, trying to keep himself calm so that he didn't cause any panic. "Miss, do not move," he warned keeping his voice calm and steady. "We have a problem."

"What now?" She asked, annoyed, with half a mind to keep moving. But something in his tone made her pause slightly.
"We happen to be on an impending sinkhole," Kye stated calmly. He was moving slowly to a vertical basis, and had picked up his bag. "Any sudden movement or weight shift could cause it to go. And even as a confident cave dweller, I think I would prefer to stay above ground for a bit. So we need to find a way to get away from here in the next… oh, five minutes or so."
"Of course." She rolled her eyes. "This would happen." She whistled to Fallin, who rose into the air, with Hunter's bag already slung around her neck. Hunter moved carefully over to the man. "Where's safe?"
"Nowhere, this entire spot is going," Kye explained. "However…" He focused on listening to the ground all around them. "There are some places that are a bit stronger than others if that is what you meant." He started testing the ground carefully. "Taking a page out of your book, step where I step. Try to step as lightly as possible."
Hunter scowled, pursing her lips. She hated to listen to him, but she didn't feel she had a choice. To make sure he was telling the truth, and not just saying this stuff to make fun of her, she blinked, and the thin film closed over her eyes. Gold sparks flashed around the clearing, and she looked down, fighting a gasp of panic. He was right. It was almost worse than he said. She looked up at the man, momentarily shocked that he would tell the truth, almost forgetting that she had her Sigh in place. He didn't have a lot of weaknesses, she realized, but a picture of a woman was forming in his head…
She shook it off, forcing her Sight down, eyes becoming their usual silver again. She stepped carefully behind him. She could trust that he was trying to keep them safe. For now, at least.
Kye stepped carefully, and slowly so that he didn't leave Hunter behind. He could almost feel her distress, and understood that she did not want to be underground. An image of his mother flashed in his mind and he remembered how helpless he was to help her. This time he could help and he would. "Did you know that there are over forty thousand different planets that can inhabit life on them?" his question had come almost completely out of nowhere even to himself, and there was only one reason that would happen.

Distractions, they tend to help, just keep going.
"Not that many, but yes," She grunted, trying to stifle panic. "I've been visited by helped people from about half that many." Despite herself, she let her power rise to the surface and watched the ground in horror. It was so weak already…
"I learned this from a friend of mine, he travels around the universe all the time," Kye continued taking another careful step. "I have also traveled around a little, but most of them are unintentional. Like this one. I tend to get thrown into situations like this a lot. What about you? Do you like traveling?"
"Not at all." She stepped carefully, wishing that he would hurry up. "I hate it."
"I can understand that," Kye nodded. "I honestly wonder why I still travel, considering what it gets me into every time I do it. If you had someone to go see would you travel?"
She's getting more tense kid, you might want to speed up a little bit.
I would if I knew it was safe. Unfortunately if we go any faster we are likely to go through the ground.

No but it does help her not panic as much.
That's only if she doesn't know what she's looking for.
"No one," she said through gritted teeth. "All my friends are dead."
Kye was quiet again, cursing himself silently for even bringing it up. He took another step forward and cursed loudly as the ground under his foot gave out causing him to sink into the ground. He hadn't taken the whole area out, but was on the ground now with one leg through it. After a moment of not breathing he took a slow breath and gave a slight laugh. "You think that was mother nature telling me to shut up before she eats me alive?"
"Probably," she grumbled, glad he hadn't been there to see when she had almost screamed when he went underground slightly. She hated the underground, for several reasons.

"Doesn't matter." She looked at him in disbelief. What was he going at? Unless he had lied about how long this would take to collapse. She pinched her lips together worriedly.

Kye look back at her. "Well the good news is that we have only about three to four feet to safety," he explained. Then he turned around to face her directly, and offered his hand oddly. As he wanted her to take it or something.
She glanced at his hand, on odd expression on her face. A brief memory flashed through her head.
"Take my hand," he called, grinning at her.
She complied, smiling at him, a young girl in love.
He smiled back. "Come on, Szerelem. Let's finish what we started."
She winced, pointedly ignoring his outstretched hand, moving away from him. She turned on her Sight, and eyed the ground, looking for the stronger places. Heart pounding, she moved carefully and slowly - too slowly, in her opinion - to the edge, where the ground was stronger.
Kye suddenly seemed to panic, as he shifted rapidly and launched himself into Hunter.they both tumbled across the ground as the entire thing went. Throwing dust into the air and covering the surrounding area. The air was filled with dust making it difficult to see. Kye rolled onto his back and did a kipup to look around. "For goodness sake, ma'am when I hold my hand out to you please do not ignore it. I do not do that just to hold hands, I always have a reason," Kye sounded like he was scolding her. The ground then started shaking and more cracks started forming around them. "What the crap?"
Hunter scowled at him, fury spread across her features. She didn't care that he had a reason. She would not touch him, not if he could help it. She would have survived, and she really didn't care about him. She wiped dust from her eyes, and spotted the cracks gradually widening on the ground, and said words that would make even a sailor blush. She pulled herself to her feet and whistled. Her griffin obediently hovered a few inches off the ground, but would not touch it, which showed how much smarter the animal was.
"If you are going to get on your friend I would suggest being faster because it appears that something or someone wants us dead," Kye commented as he took a step back not paying attention to the glare he got from Hunter. Even though he'd seen it. But at that moment he was watching cracks spread across the ground straight towards them.
