(Hey! I’m back)
Kyle blushed furiously, and it didn’t help that they were holding hands, either. He chuckled, somewhat nervously and tried to calm his blush down, “Aha, thanks, and you’re not wrong. It is tiring but worth it if I want to-“ He cut himself off when he noticed his eyes, his own widening slightly, “Your… how are your…”

amrua inclined his head curiously, "my…? sorry, i didn't catch that. are you okay?" he squeezed kyle's hand slightly, pressing his thumb into his palm.

“Your eyes… they’re… you know,” He looked down at his lap, biting his lip before he muttered, “Slits…”

his free hand flew to hover over his face, and he blinked a few times. you could almost see the gears working as he tried to figure out a way to explain that would make sense.
"well… uh, i'm not exactly a full-blood human if that makes any sense. scratch that, i've got no human blood in me. i know this is a very human community, but," he reached around to ruffle the back of his hair, opposite thumb drawing feather-light circles into kyle's palm "i'm an elf, if that makes any sort of sense. not like… santa's elf, but the other kind."
he sent a piercing, high-eyebrow glance towards kyle's face, and then dropped to their intertwined hands.
"you know, the one that gets to be impossibly old and is known for being stuck-up."

Kyle chuckled a little, somewhat out of disbelief and somewhat out of nerves, "Okay, that's… kinda cool. I've never met an elf before, or… anything supernatural for that matter," He sighed softly, his gaze flicking from his lap, to their hands then to Amrua's face, "What are you doing in a human orientated city, anyway?" He asked, "Sorry if that's rude…"

amrua dropped an eyebrow, smiling gently. "running away. it's not rude, i just have to disappear. nobody will look for me here." he paused, contemplating, then his eyes widened. "i'm not- i'm not on the run! i swear you're not helping a-a criminal or anything. my family is just a mess. i had to get away."

(just realized i fucked up the backstory??? on my first reply i said his friends dumped him to go home but forget i said that)

Kyle giggled just a little and have his hand a small reassuring squeeze, "You're too pretty to be a criminal, and if you were I'd be concerned but I'm glad you're not. And I'm sorry you had to run away."

amrua just smiled slightly wistfully and squeezed back. "it's alright. it wasn't really a 'had' to be honest. no abuse of any kind, just… conflicting opinions, you could say. my brother is the reason my knee is fucked up, see? he pulled a switchblade on me when i said i was leaving. my brother was always a bit insane."
amrua paused, considering, and softly added "i'm sorry if i'm talking your ear off. i haven't had much company."

(this is taking place before amrua got so coarse and rude, if that makes any sense)

Kyle just shook his head a little, a soft smile adorning his features, “It’s fine, Amrua. I’m the same, never had much company well, I used too but not anymore, anyway.” He shrugged a shoulder.

he gave an almost invisible shudder at the use of his name, but looked relieved anyway. "thanks. and uh, here's an idea." he cleared his throat and 'put on the charms' so to speak. tilting his head back, he side-eyed kyle with a lazy grin.
"howabout we be each other's company?"

Kyle smiled back, a sort of goofy, almost giddy smile, “Sure, I’d like that,” He looked out across the town square, a soft sigh escaping his lips, “If I’m being honest, I haven’t had many… friends in my short life…”

he gently swiped his thumb over kyle's hand "and i haven't in my long one. it's alright. i think my knee is back, so here." he unearthed a pen from his jacket, picked up the other's hand and placed it in his lap, and jotted his number down on his skin. after he was finished he stood.
"don't be a stranger, you hear?"
and with a cold, quick peck on kyle's cheek he disappeared into the grey gloom of the darkening day.

Kyle stuttered our a weak ‘okay’ after the kiss and he watched Amrua leave with a red blush on his cheeks. He didn’t know what just happened but he definetly didn’t mind it. With the elf on his mind, he walked home with a smile gracing his lips.

The next day, the human was caught up in school work for most of the day, sitting by the fire in his small, two story house by the lightening his little Christmas tree. The rainbow coloured lights shone onto the papers and, even though he loved it, was slightly distracting. It wasn’t the only thing he was distracted by, either. His kind had wandered to Amrua all day and Kyle figured he needed a break so, with an ounce of courage, decided to call him.

amrua was curled on his sad excuse of a bed, resting his eyes when his phone buzzed insistently from his pocket. he was immediately startled out of whatever sleep had been achieved, and fumbled to pick up. blearily, he managed to make out an unknown number. usually he wouldn't take these calls, but… what if it was that cutie from the other day, kyle?

he decided to pick up, and hit the accept call button before he could second-guess himself again. "hello?"

“Hey, Amrua. It’s uh, Kyle,” He collapsed on his couch, picking at the leaves in his tree, “I was wondering if you wanted to, you don’t have to but if you wanted to hang out, like now? I need a break from my school work and um… yeah.” He cursed himself for rambling and being so nervous but what’s done is done.

amrua's face lit up, and he smiled widely as he talked into the phone. "yeah! i'll hang out. where do you want to go?"

Kyle shrugged, “I don’t mind. Do you wannna come over to mine and we can figure it out from there?”

amrua had to catch his thoughts from going into the gutter. you've known him for like, a day. chill out. he swallowed dryly and forced out a "yeah, that sounds good." hopefully it sounded more like purring and less like chronic dry mouth.

Kyle smiled, oblivious to the elf’s dry mouth problem, “Great! I’ll text you the address then. I’ll see you in a few.”

"see you in a few!"
after they hung up, he flopped back against his bed with his arm over his eyes. a long groan escaped him, and he punctuated it with a sigh. ohhhhhhhh boy. oh no. time to dance, fellas. time to tango.

when he received the text, he smiled weakly in relief. not too far. he shrugged on his coat, exited the apartment building, and got walking.

Kyles house was fairly clean, well he thought so anyway. His house consisted of a small living room, dining room and kitchen on the first floor, and then two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. A Christmas tree sat next to the fireplace in the living room, and a small candle set sat on the window sill, easily seen by the outside world.

Kyle cleaned up his school work which was strewn out over dining room table. He left out his laptop and few important papers but other then that, everything got put in his bag. He made himself look slightly more presentable with skinny jeans and an oversized black jumper, though he didn’t know why he was so worried about his appearance. When he heard a knock on the door, he greeted the other with a smile, “H-Hey there!”

amrua dropped his eyelids slightly, quirking one corner of his mouth into a half-smile. he was in his usual amount of ugly layers, and he looked a little ruffled but still,,, elven beauty does wonders for tired bitches.
"hey yourself. you look nice! mind if i step in? it's cold as hell outside."

Kyle nodded, “Of course, come on in.” He led him inside the small home, shutting the door behind them and he made his way into the living room, “So, where’d you wanna go? Anywhere in particular?”

"i haven't got a preference, but you've got a nice place."
wow, way to go mr. eloquent. very funny.
"uh, anyway, have you got a place in mind?"

Kyle shrugged a shoulder, “There’s a small park not too far from here and then a cafe/diner we could go to.”

"sounds like fun!" he chirped enthusiastically, offering his arm to kyle. "we walking, driving, or what? how far is it?"

“It’s close enough to walk to.” He said softly, taking up his offer and getting a hold on his arm.

amrua have a small, theatrical bow, and opened the door with his free hand. once they were outside, he hummed and pressed slightly closer to kyle's side.
"lead the way, highness."

Kyle snorted and shook his head with a chuckle, “I am far from royalty,” He said, scratching the back of his neck with his free hand.
