Lucas lifted up one side of his headphones long enough to determine that someone was there before continuing what he was doing. He gently tugged at one bandage to see the cuts underneath.
Unstable // One-On-One // CLOSED
"Nothing's changed, we had a meeting yesterday…?" Carter replied, confused. "Look, I know that this is a big thing. It's amazing. You're nervous, I can tell."
"Well, I'm kinda Jasmine. You know, the prince?"
"And I'm the Genie. Our roles are equally important."
I hate these bindings being here… I deserve this anyway. Lucas tore off his bandages and watched the cuts begin to bleed. Maybe I should get food. He got up and pulled his sleeves down, not noticing that he was bleeding through the fabric. He was wearing a light blue hoodie as well, so it was noticeable. He went downstairs and grabbed an apple.
When Spencer spotted Lucas, a huge smile grew on his face. He was an only child, and Lucas was basically his little brother. "Hey, Lucas," He said as he turned to face him. Spencer then saw the blood seeping through Lucas' jumper. "Hey, Lucas? You know you're bleeding, right?"
"Hmm?" Lucas looked down at his arms before quickly holding them over his stomach to hide them. Shit, I forgot about that… "It's n-nothing…"
"That doesn't look like nothing, buddy," He said, staring at the patch still growing.
"I-I…" Lucas was frozen in place, but his mind was screaming at him to run. There was a heavy fear and guilt in his eyes, and all he could do was draw his arms tighter around himself.
"You can tell me, I'm not gonna do anything to you," Spencer chuckled softly. Carter sat and watched.
Lucas hesitated for a few seconds before finally looking away, blinking away tears. Well, this wasn't exactly how I planned on her finding out… He tentatively tugged up one of his sleeves with trembling hands, avoiding eye contact.
Spencer was still confused as to why Lucas was worried, but Carter slowly started to figure it out. She walked towards her brother and wrapped him in a hug, not caring if blood got onto her clothes.
Lucas was noticeably trembling at this point and seemed surprised that Carter cared, especially right after a fight. Just don't cry… you can cry later, when you're alone. He hugged Carter tightly, trying to avoid getting blood on her.
"I know that a sorry and a hug doesn't mean much, but I'm giving them to you anyway."
"I-I'm sorry it came to this… and that I didn't tell you sooner…" It was getting harder for Lucas to keep himself from crying, but he'd managed thus far. It hurts so much… but useless people like me deserve pain.
Carter could feel some warm tears starting to make their way down her cheeks. "I'm sorry about dad. I never asked for him to like me more, or for my mum to die. But Vivian is basically a mum to me."
(Rip Spencer lmao)
Lucas tried to prevent his own tears from falling, but failed. "I-I'm sorry… I really shouldn't be bothering you when you're busy…" He made an attempt to run back to his room so the others wouldn't see him cry, but Carter had hold of his wrist. He flinched when this happened, since his wrists hurt quite a bit.
"You should never apologise for interrupting me," She whispered to him. "If you ever need help, I'm here for you. Don't forget that."
Lucas closed his eyes, his hands shaking violently now. He quickly tried to brush away the tears falling down his cheeks, but he could only push them away so quickly.
"Do you want me to help clear your cuts?" Carter asked, as softly as possible.
"I-I don't want you to, but I know I should…" Personally, I'd like them to stay open until I bled out. Lucas allowed Carter to drag him over to the sink.
Carter started to run the water over Lucas' cuts. "Can I…can I show you something?" She asked softly.
Lucas hissed through his teeth in pain when the water hit his cuts. He had to fight a strong urge to run. "W-What?"
Carter reached up and pulled her shirt off, turning to face away from Lucas. She had many healed cuts along her back, all coming from a different instrument.
Lucas examined the scars quietly before looking back at his own arms. "It's been a while, hasn't it…? They're all healed.." I shouldn't have cut so deep…
"I wasn't as popular in school as dad thinks. I had bullies, like everyone else. They thought they could break me down until I was nothing. They tried so many things."
Lucas had crossed his arms at this point, subconsciously digging his fingernails into them. "L-Life's kinda shit, huh?" He noticed fresh blood on his arms from his fingernails. "God dammit…"
"You should have come to me," She said, pulling her shirt back on. "I know that we don't always get along, but I care for you. You're my brother."
"W-Well, I didn't think you would care… dad wouldn't care, and mom isn't around enough to care… and it's no secret I haven't really got any friends." Lucas stared guiltily at the floor, trying to prevent the tears welling up in his eyes from falling.
"You always have me," She said, a small smile on her face. "I'm not gonna leave you. I promise."
Lucas looked back up at Carter, rubbing his tears away as soon as they fell. He hugged Carter again, trying to stop his shaking.
"You don't need to be scared to come to me. I will always be here for you. I swear."
