Val nodded weakly, breath rushing out of him in a soft sigh as Padlock hugged him close. It felt so good to be held like this, so safe, and Padlock was okay and… and maybe he was okay too. He relaxed slowly over the next few minutes, going limp in Padlock's arms as his tears came to a slow stop and his breathing started to come smoothly again. He still clutched at Padlock like his life depended on it, but at least he wasn't full on sobbing anymore.
He even managed to peek out of Padlock's shoulder, glancing up at the villain's face with more than a little hesitance. What if he was angry and he was just waiting for Val to stop being a mess so he could yell at him? Or worse, what if he was disgusted and he was only holding Val like this so he wouldn't have to worry about getting kicked out? The thought had his eyes all teary again and he had to rebury his face, clinging to Padlock a little tighter despite his worries.
"I… I am though, I shouldn't… I shouldn't've woken you, it was s-selfish and… and now I'm… I'm… acting like a c-child and it's… it's not okay and you're… you're probably s-so upset and…" He shook his head, pressing closer to Padlock. "… and I'm really really sorry."
