Thanks! Shall we start then?
Wait, that's not me...
Yep! I have to go in about an hour, but you can post the starter?
Yeah! Let me concoct something.
Ginger teased her hair do it fell just the way she wanted it to around her shoulders. Just the way she knew Rowl liked it. They were only meeting to go on a walk, but she figured she could try a little extra to like nice for him. She checked her appearance once more in the mirror and smiled at herself as confidently as she could.
"You're pretty," she told herself softly before picking up her phone to send her boyfriend a text.I
Hey just leaving my house. Should be at the park in 10 minutes
The beeping phone snapped Rowl out of his thoughts, shooting a smile onto his face. Ok, love ya. He typed back, the smile still present. His little sister, Adrain, came running into his room, little blonde curls bouncing as she hopped onto his bed.
She squealed happily, "Ooh, is it your girlfriend?" Making a face at the word, the blonde proceeded to destroy his perfectly made bed.
A mischievous glint entered his eyes as he snatched his phone, tucking a rose in his jacket pocket. "Not… quite yet…" Picking up his sister, he set her down outside the door, sending her a personalized wink. Excitedly, he yelled to his dad, "I'll be back in a hour or so!" Rowl decided to ignore the knowing gleam in his father's eyes as he ran out the door.
Ginger giggled at his response. He was so sweet… Love you too ❤ she sent before heading out the door. She thought she heard her mom talking to someone in the kitchen, but she was probably imagining it.
The weather was nice, timing wasn't crammed, the park was fairly empty and all in all… perfect. Rowl had factored into account every single possible way the encounter could go, yet Ginger always seemed to be an unpredictable seven-sided die. A lopsided grin fell onto his face as he read the text, sending back ❤. Nervously fidgeting with the rose, his eyes flicked and scanned the park for a familiar, angelic face.
Ginger arrived a few minutes earlier than she expected. She looked around, and her eyes landed on Rowl. As soon as they did, they lit up excitedly, and she hurried over to him.
"Hey!" He crushed the girl in his arms, happily belting out a laugh. Eyes twinkling, he cherished Ginger's mere presence. "I've missed you."
"Eek!" she squealed at his bone-crushing hug. "I missed you too!"
He removed Ginger out of his vice-like grip, holding her back. Strolling to the park's clearing, he inhaled. "So… how long have we been dating now?"
"Um…" She squinted slightly, using her fingers to count. "Six months. Right? Half a year?"
"I think so," he smiled ever so slightly, remembering how he had fumbled out a nervous request half a year ago, stumbling and tripping over his words. "But dating isn't… necessarily a committed relationship," Rowl's voice cracked in the middle of his statement and he blushed lightly.
She looked at him, her expression worried and concerned. "Yes, I guess so… What do you mean?"
"Would you…" he sighed, rubbing his face. Rowl whipped out the rose, transfixed in her beautiful ocean blue eyes. "You make me happier than any man alive," he chuckled at how it could've appeared as him proposing to her. Licking his lips, he finally dared: "Would you, Ginger, like to be my girlfriend?"
Her eyes widened and she squeaked adorably in her excitement. "Yes yes yes!!!" she cried happily.
Shamelessly tossing the flower aside, Rowl looped his arms around her waist and once again crushed her to him. He ghosted her lips with his own before happily trailing kisses all over her face. "I love you," he murmured against her lips as he pressed closer.
She squeezed her eyes shut and laughed. "I love you too," she murmured softly. She loved everything about him from his crushing his to his kisses. She couldn't imagine someone more perfect.
Finally, the pair came up - Rowl gasping for air as a floating sensation enhanced his body. Ignoring the disapproving looks from older adults, he pressed another feather-light kiss to Ginger's forehead. "C'mon," his eyes twinkled, "The park's waiting!" He ran off, leaving the girl to chase after him.
She giggled and raced after him as fast as she could. "Wait!" she cried, sprinting to catch up.
He let her catch up, both knowing that the boy ran long distance. "I hope you don't mind that I tossed your rose aside to kiss you," he smirked, barely panting.
She was flushed from the run and now his comment. "Oh, it was okay. I'm just so happy. You make me so happy."
Entwining his fingers through hers, he gave a soft smile. "You make me happy, too." A light kiss on her nose. "Very, very happy." A gentle caress over her cheek. "My girlfriend."
Her eyes lit up happily. "I'm glad that I do!" My girlfriend, he said. I'm his girlfriend! She felt elated.
His sharp, blue eyes danced with undiluted joy and satisfaction. Sighing, he confessed, "I feel… at home. At ease, with you. Like you wash everything else away."
She gently squeezed his hand. "I feel the same way about you. You always make everything better…"
"Thank you," he breathed. "For- for helping by simply being there." He squeezed her hand in reply as they weaved through neatly trimmed trees and blooming bushes. Crouching down, the boy plucked a bloodred rose and tenderly passed it to her.
She accepted the flower with a blush. "Of course. I'll always be here for you."
Winking at the girl, he assured, "Same to you." Rowl admired the pretty stain brushed against her cheeks, her slightly flustered eyes. God, he loved this girl.
"Is there anything you'd like to do?" she asked, casually swinging their hands.
