Her tear-filled eyes blinked. "Yes, it does."
Who wants a romance o/o? (OPEN)
"No, baby, it doesn't." He leaned in to press a kiss to her forehead.
Laura closed her eyes and tried not to cry again.
"The cops'll be here soon." Nicky said, gently pulling her into another hug. "They're gonna want you to give a statement or something, can you do that?"
"I-I can try," she whispered, her chest hurting a bit as Nicky's arms wrapped around her.
"Okay. Let's go find a first aid kit or something." He let go of her, smiling sadly down at her.
"I'm s-sorry, I should have t-told you…" she whispered, looking at him with round eyes.
"Don't apologize." He said softly. "It's not your fault. Although, I would have liked if you'd told me."
"I was af-fraid of what he'd d-do to me," she stammered. She took a deep breath to calm herself down. "No more secrets. I promise."
"He can't hurt you anymore, alright?" He reached up to cup her cheek, resisting the urge to pull her into yet another hug and never let go.
She met his gaze and smiled weakly. "Hopefully not."
"No, Laura. I won't let him." He said, looking fiercely intent.
"Y-You mean it?" she whispered, looking softly into his sharp gaze.
"Yes." He nodded, not breaking their eye contact. "If he so much as comes within 15 feet of you, I'll send him back to the hospital."
Laura threw her arms around his neck and buried her face in his neck. "Thank you," she cried softly.
Nicky rubbed soothing circles into her back, holding her carefully, but protectively. "Of course, baby. I'd do anything for you, got that?"
She nodded against his shirt. "N-Nicky?"
"Yeah?" He looked down at her, raising an eyebrow.
"I love you," she whispered, looking up at him in turn.
He blinked in surprise, and a bright smile slowly spread on his face as he leaned down, pressing a kiss to her cheek. "I love you too, Laura."
She smiled softly. "Let's go downstairs," she suggested.
"Right. First aid, and-" He was cut off by the sirens growing closer at an alarming rate, and car doors slamming. "-cops."
She tensed a bit nervously. "They're going to arrest him, aren't they?"
"They are." He said, nodding. He'd probably be taken in too, until they heard the full account from Laura.
"I'm sorry for dragging you into this," she whispered.
"I'm sorry for dragging you into this," she whispered.
He wrapped an arm around her waist as he started for the door, the unspoken but obvious invitation to pull away there. "Never apologize for that, Laura. I'd do anything for you, alright?"
Laura nodded just as an officer walked through the door. Laura shied away instantly, then realized she probably shouldn't have.
(Do you want to be the officer, or should I?)
((Couldst you?))
Nicky relaxed his hold on her in case she wanted to move behind him, but gave her a comforting smile. "Hey, it's alright. They're the good guys, right?"
(Sure! I have a character, lol)
Jess took in the sight. "You the ones that called?" she asked, looking at Nicky and Laura. Mainly Nicky, but still.
