New favorite? Lucrèce blinked, recoiling at the information about his brother. He’d never imagined Leander to be one of these people, the ones who kept coming back and back again to spend massive amounts of money on what- just to sate some desire, to take advantage of someone’s deepest vulnerabilities. It didn’t make sense in his mind, and all thinking about it did was make him feel sick again. And then even worse when Alcides moved to pick him up. “Wait- no, stop. Put me down!” He winced at the bruises on his stomach pressed against the man’s shoulder, but doing his best to ignore it, he pushed and clawed at Alcides’s head, his back.
“So why did you pay for me if you’re not even going to try and help me?” Lucrèce had demanded.
“You're my little brother.” Leander had reached out, almost protectively, to wipe away at the already smudged paint on Lucrèce’s face. “And I love you, I can’t…I just, it broke my heart to think about anyone doing something to you. Hurting you.”
Lucrèce stood for a handful of moments trembling, letting Leander swipe his thumb over his face, and he wanted to believe him. Although it became increasingly obvious his brother didn’t mean what he said. Especially when he caught Leander’s wrist and pleaded, “So help me get out of here.”
The answer had been a no. Lucrèce couldn’t stop thinking about the look on his brother’s face. Painfully apologetic, and yet he just shook his head. “I can’t. I’ll do what I can, though…I can visit you.”
