Jas stayed silent for a few moments, neither smiling nor frowning. No matter what he told himself, it did hurt to hear Connor say that he had truly hated him. Whether it as because of his constant presence or the unknowing nature of who they were and what would become of them in their next lives. Jas understood Connor, in a way. He himself had been nervous about losing Connor in the next life. He head been the only constant throughout their lives. He had admitted to himself long ago that part of his attraction to Connor was the fact that he was always there in every life, but that hadn’t been the reason why Jas had fallen in love with him so many lives ago. It had been the way he spoke, or the way he had always had the innate reaction to help people, even if at times, he couldn’t help himself. Jas had thought it natural when he had first found out that Connor was going to be a hero, and he was glad to fill in the role of the villain, if only to keep Connor close to him, no matter how much heartbreak he had mastered to hide throughout their lives. He huffed a small laugh at being called tenacious. In all honesty, Jas thought that generous for all the times he had stuck to Connor like glue, completely disillusioned by his infatuation to notice how much it bothered Connor. He gently pressed a kiss to Connor’s temple. “Don’t be. I’m sort of glad you gave in now rather than sooner. All those lives gave me time to think and learn from my actions. I don’t think either of us would be happy like this if you gave in before.” He gently tilted Connor’s chin up. “I could never laugh at you for feeling the way you do. Now looking back on it, I can see why you hated me so much. I can’t blame you for doing so, especially if I fed into your fantasy. At the same time, I was feeding into mine, and I truly am sorry I couldn’t see past that to actually talk to you about my feelings or even just talk with you like a normal person would.” He bit his lip and took in a shake breath. “I want this life and all the rest to spent making up the lives we’ve been at each other’s throats. But I understand if, in the next life or even lives after that you want to spend time away from me. To meet new people. To actually date someone you choose, rather than someone you feel obligated to date, even if it doesn’t last an eternity. You deserve that, Connor. And when you feel ready, you know I’ll always be there for you. No matter what.”
Suni jumped slightly and turned his slightly panicked gaze to Damion. “Huh? Oh, yeah I’m so sorry. I ah…” he laughed and took the steaming mug of chocolate. “Yeah I do. This is my first date in a while and I’m just trying to sort things out.” He admitted, touching his upper lip to the surface of chocolate before taking a cautious sip. “Mm, this is really good, thank you.” He murmured, curling up with mug in hand. “This is all a bit fast for me. In a good way though! I really have enjoyed the date and I hope we can go out more. I just never thought someone would be so willing to accept,” he waved a hand to himself. “All this so quickly. Especially considering what I am, and what I do. I half expected you to reject me the moment e saw each other. I was surprised when you continued with the date, even more surprised when you invited me over. Honestly I’m still shocked that you’re so calm about this.” He ducked his head embarrassed and took another sip of the chocolate, pulling away slightly when it burned his lip.
