A kingdom of demons and angels.
No, that‘s not quite right.
More like, a kingdom where angels rule the skies and demons are forced to cower below.
I believe that matches things up a bit better.

The realm of Iyiosia is a world of vast beauty and wonder, sitting close to the mortal realms. From boundless oceans to fascinating, floating isles, if a human were to visit you’d bet that the other humans would not believe their tales.

Iyiosia is inhabited by the demons and angels, all living in uneasy lives. Occasionally, the pressure boils over and a fight occurs, but Sentinels typically intervene as long as the fight occurs within the realm. Outside of Iyiosia, it’s open game.

The angels inhabit the floating isles, often building wondrous cities upon their peaks. Or sometimes, they opt for living alone, a more solitary lifestyle.
Meanwhile, the demons live down below the oceans, in dark, fiendish caverns. Although the demons come out to collect food and resources, they are typically avoided by angels.

Angels are ruled by a High Angel, a mysterious unseen figure. Demons, on the other hand, are viewed as brutish and have no official leader, although they respond to one who the angels refer to as Tilmeth, who, unlike the High Angel, has been viewed openly by other demons, but he has not set foot out of the caverns (which no angel dare enter) for millennia.

Despite this, Tilmeth and the High Angel have had descendants, with children of their own. Their great grandchildren, each with immense power. Demons and Angels (respectively) believe that these relatives are their own respective side’s warriors, which one day, they will rise to fight in a great war. Because of this, they push training upon the children, although this has loosened as generations go on.
With each passing year tension grows in Iyiosia, and time will tell if peace will hold…

Rules

  1. If you are not comfortable with mature topics, do not join this.
  2. I allow cursing and the such in my RPs. I will also allow violence and blood, but do not overdo it.
  3. In fights, do not auto hit. Do not dodge everything either.
  4. If your style is not what I’m looking for, I will deny you.
  5. Have decent grammar.
  6. I would prefer this be a romance. I’d prefer it to be MxF, with me being the male. However, I can do either or.
  7. No one liners. If you don’t have any ideas for responses, try to write out your characters thoughts for the situation. Have them act in some form.
  8. May change list.

Read the notes, they’re a bit hefty but they’re important regarding the world of this RP.

Note: Both angels and demons have what is known as a true form. The true form is what they really look like. Demons will have more demonic, evil features, while angels have more heavenly and good features. Either way, both demons and angels will generally look quite monstrous and bestial to humans. Generally quite big, but both demons and angels can change size.

Second Note: Magic is prevalent in this world, with some humans preforming certain charms to keep spirits away, or banish demons. Occasionally humans. Angels and demons both have magical abilities either way. The Descendants are powerful, but without training, their powers are uncontrolled and dangerous to both the user and their surroundings.
Demons will typically use magic aligning with themselves, but they can also learn angel aligned magic (it’s harder though)

  • things that cause pain, destruction, etc are generally seen as demonic and what demons excel with.
  • fire magic is the most common
    Angels do the same, learning magic aligning with angels. Can learn demonic magic, but is harder.
  • things that heal, protect, etc are seen as angelic and what angels excel with.
  • water and ice magic is the most common.
    Both are neutral (meaning they have equal difficulty) with learning magic like transformation (turning objects and people into other things), illusion (creating things that aren’t there such as scent, touch, eyesight), charms (safety charms, imprisonment charms, etc).
    Both automatically have a form of transformation magic where when venturing to the mortal realm they have the option to become an animal to sneak around better.

Note Three: It is forbidden for an angel under 100 years to venture to the mortal realm, while a demon can do whatever, but given they rarely leave the ocean they aren’t leaving as often.
Demons venturing to the mortal realm often are seen as problematic, so usually angles are sent after them to watch them and banish if needed.

I would like to mention that I would prefer to play the demon, only because I have a character in mind already.
I will also list what time and setting we’re working with here; regarding the mortal realm.
Rural setting, villages. No cars, industrial revolution hasn’t happened yet. Think it would take place a good thousand years ago or close to there.

(Sure, do you have a writing sample at hand?)

@gracehustle

(Definitely! This is from one of my current rps that I'm doing:)
"Ah, don't let your minuscule human ego get the best of you girl, you're less important than a fly to me," Eldon said, unclasping his cloak and draping it over the side of the throne with a bored expression, "It is new to have someone with the guts to stand up to me, especially when they risk dying without leaving this room. Now, your names? Or will I have to find them out the hard way?"

This girl had a death wish, Venali decided. No one talked back to the king, not even he did, but he couldn't help but admire her mocking tone. His face remained almost expressionless though, only a flicker of amusement flashing through his eyes. Tournament for her definitely. For the young boy beside her though, he guessed the auction. Eldon wouldn't care about their obvious sibling relation, he didn't care about anyone except himself and Aine anyway.

"Venali, fetch the thick restraints." The King said, barely sparing a glance at his nephew as he reclined back on the throne, "And a knife." His gaze fell back on the human and he waited silently for any sort of an answer.

Venali was eager to snap a snarky response at Eldon, stopping himself before anything could escape his lips though. It took an amazing amount of self control to spin on his heel and head out a doorway on the side of the large room, feeling like a dog trained to fetch whatever was needed.

Another amazing perk of being a royal.

(Looks good, you may join. Any questions?)

@gracehustle

(Only a few. How many forms of magic can an angel know (like the 'normal' amount to know)? Also, are our characters the descendants of the powerful demon and angel?)

(For elemental magic, most only know 1-2 different types. As for others, you can learn just about anything if you have the time and patience, but for our characters, I’d probably say at least 3 to start with, and more can be learnt in roleplay as well. For the second question, yes, they are.)

@gracehustle

(Sounds good! That's all my questions, I'll get my template filled out as quick as I can.)

Name:Arinea (Doesn't have a last name but uses Surrel when in the mortal world)
Age: 158
Gender:Female
Sexuality Bi, tends to lean more towards males though
Human form:Arinea is actually a big fan of her human form. She has large blue-green eyes and light skin, with dirty blonde hair that brushes her lower back to top it off. Her face is a soft diamond shape and she has natural light pink lips to go with the few freckles on her nose. With all of this, she stands at around 5'8", being quite lean that adds to her overall 'angelic' appearance as people have described her as.
True form: It's..intense to say the least. Humans would see her true form as close to just a bright ball of white light, while in reality, her true form is really a mess of silver multi-directional spinning rings that fit inside of one another, complete with a bright white 'core' of light at the center and eyes allllll over the rings. (Based off of how they're described in a bible passage I came across..think it's Ezekiel something if you're curious)
Magic experience: Overall she's pretty good at magic, with the form that came the easiest being protection magic. All other forms that she knows took her years to get good at, but now she can do some fairly good water magic and transformation work. Currently trying her best to start working on doing Charms.
Personality: Arinea is generally a happy being, with a patience level through the roof. She's an extremely hard worker when it comes to things she likes, including learning/practicing new magic. Being the great-granddaughter of the High Angel, she's pushed to train for a battle she hopes never comes, both physically and with magic. She's also very loyal to the ones she cares for, and will fight any demon who decides to mess with them. (More to come along as the story progresses)
Other: She won't admit this to anyone, but she has been curious about learning demon aligned magic since she learned about it.
(How is she? Anything I need to change?)

Name: Demon name or his given name is Argor, human name is Ägidius Obst. However, he goes by Argor Obst, choosing to mix his human and demon name.
Age: 156
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Human form: His human form differs from his true form on how subtle or quiet he is with it. From what can be observed of Argor is that he has sandy skin, central heterochromia in both eyes. The outer part of his irises are blue, while the inner part shifts to a green. Argor covers up most of his face with a cloth or two, typically leaving only his eyes or top of the head visible. His hair goes down to the mid neck, which he commonly keeps neatly done. His hair is a dark brown. He stands at 5’11”, with a structure that could be described as lightly muscled. Prefers to keep most of himself hidden for whatever reason.
True form: Choosing a reptilian form to suit his true self, Argor’s scales are tough and even at a young age hard to pierce. Carmine red scales, a long tail with spikes on the end that act in a similar manner to a rattlesnake tail. His teeth are not fully grown, but two of them curve from his jaws like tusks. Egyptian blue and turquoise runs down his head and neck, while dull red crystals adorn his back. Somewhat muscled build; can stand on all fours or on his hind legs. Has the capability to sport two extra pairs of arms, boosting his total arm count to six. Occasionally dons armour in the time of battle. Has two big, curved horns on his head, while smaller ones line the sides of his face. Six golden eyes in total, keeps four closed for the most part. Three on each side of head.

His most peculiar feature in this form is his tongue, which can vary appearance, from being a mass of tentacles to a hand, or even a seemingly normal tongue with many eyes on it. Or just a normal tongue.
Magic experience: Argor excels with destruction based magic, and has an affinity for the element of fire and a bit of earth. Has begun to learn transformation magic. Struggles with control; has not received much training for it since not many were willing. Most of his magic control comes from a charm placed on him by an elder demon named Algud when he was a child; the charm is a golden ring worn around the neck. Due to his struggle with control, this makes transformation magic harder.
Personality: For a great grandson of Tilmeth, Argor plays out to be quite a timid demon. He’s quick to submit or fall away from other demons, which is why he views the Mortal realm as such a place for him to be free; because no one knows that he’s the descendant of Tilmeth, and he can run free…almost free, rather, as he commonly is followed by angels due to his origins when he exits the realm.

Tilmeth views Argor as one of the future heroes to the demons, thus he comes under pressure by Tilmeth quite often to practice his power and learn new magic.

Argor is somewhat of a coward when it comes to certain things (to be described in RP) but he can be very brutish if given a push or reason. He always has had quite a low patience level, however. Can be curious. Subject to shift as the RP happens.
Other: Even with the control ring, Argor struggles with control of any sorts. Given the nature of his magic, he’s prone to damaging things; he does have natural fire immunity but the grass sure doesn’t. He has a bigger sense of empathy than one might expect.

For Argor, it was nice to break away from the caverns for a while, and have some time to himself. He would explore, occasionally, and sometimes he’d find something worth keeping. Mostly Argor would relax, though. Only a demon could understand how busy it could get below.
Although Argor was maybe the only demon who used the term busy, which was probably why you didn’t see more demons out and about.

Currently residing on one of the empty floating islands, Argor made his rest atop a rock, smoothly eroded and perfect for sitting in. He hadn’t seen anyone else out here, making this a perfect, quiet place for him to just lay and think.

Think about what he’d do today. No tasks from Tilmeth, although he was expected to practice at some point, so Argor could add that onto the list. Maybe visit the mortal realm? But..Argor wasn’t in the mood to be followed. More and more thoughts came into mind before Argor decided to give himself up to his thoughts and commit to thinking about them, not paying too much attention to his surroundings. Not that he needed to, there weren’t many threats in Iyiosia.

@gracehustle

Arinea was tired of practicing magic. She had been at it for hours, pushed to her limit multiple times in any form of magic she knew. So it was no surprise to anyone when she called it quits, making up some excuse and making a beeline off of the busy island. Where she was going to go was a mystery even to herself.

As one of the offspring of the High Angel, there was a low chance that she would be able to venture far from the main cities. Making the decision to explore more of Iyiosia her plan for the day. Specifically as far from the rest of the angels as she could. There were hundreds of islands she had yet to see, all perfect places to practice in silence, maybe relax for a few hours, enjoy the silence that surrounded her.

She planned to do just that when she finally found a neat looking island, seemingly inhabitant or visitor free. Even if there was someone, she had no intention of finding them after she had found a nice tree in the sun to sit under.

Argor had finally made his choice after a while. He’d try to practice. Emphasis on try, given Argor struggled with control in terms of magic. He was even told that a demon less than 100 could have better control than him, which was quite the shameful remark. He taps the golden ring around his neck, well aware of the effect on his being. It reeled in his power, which was probably for the better.

Standing up, Argor stretched. This island was pretty clear. Empty, a good training spot. There were hundreds of isles, but Argor didn’t want to have to move off of this one.

Transformation magic. That was what Argor had so desired to master. It seemed like an incredibly useful tool. His only problem was control. First, he’d begin with a simple exercise, conjuring up some energy. Which he had to dedicate all of his focus and patience into, something Argor was good with for a short period of time.

A small, what seemed to be ball of fire sat in his hand shortly after. That was a good sign, maybe this day would end up being much better than some others. He closes his fingers on the fire shortly after, almost worried that the fire may slip away. But it does not. It fizzles out.
Argor turns to a rock, not the one he had sat on.
He pours his focus in on the rock, as much as he can..willing it to transform.

But nothing happens.
Argor stares on in silence, before trying again, again, again. He’s going to keep at this rock until he sees something change.

@gracehustle

As soon as she had found an island she liked, Arinea relaxed in the first spot of the island that she saw, under the tree that had caught her eye originally. She liked where it was and how the sun shone through the leaves, plus the rest of the isle seemed clear.

There wasn't much to look at on the isle, just rocks and a few trees, like the one she was at, but it was quiet. Exactly what she was looking for. It was the perfect spot to settle in, which she did eagerly.

Most angels would find quiet boring, but she liked it when she was tired of practicing with others. There was no one to interrupt her or distract her from learning more about how to hone her skills like she wanted to do. No one would see her mistakes either.

Slowly, Arinea started to focus back on her magic, starting with something she knew she could do, shifting into her human form. Even if it was unusual to be in a human form when not in the mortal worlds, practicing something she knew she could do helped her focus. From there it wasn't much harder to start trying to warm up her protection magic, doing simple things like putting up protective barriers and taking them down.

Argor typically stayed in human forms at all times in Iyiosia. Even down under, at the home of the demons, he wore a human shroud around himself unless training or coming to an audience with a high class demon. Not that anyone judged, of course. It was simply preference, and some demons even preferred a human form to their true ones.

Argor focused on the rock, and just as he was considering giving up, there was a sudden ‘poof’ as the rock seemed to vanish into a cloud of smoke. What stood in its place was a small tree. Argor stopped, looking at it. In thought, many things soon rushed ahead.

Did I..

“I..” He stopped, then corrected himself, this time shouting in celebration. “I did it!”
But his celebration could not last long, as the tree seemed to crack. And just like that, the tree fell into several rocky pieces, before reverting back to a rock with another cloud of smoke.
Argor faltered, freezing up. Standing and looking on in silence, as if he couldn’t exactly believe what had happened.

@gracehustle

Practicing took focus for Arinea, specifically on making sure she was channeling her power and not letting it have control over her. Even when working with things she had practiced since when she was under 100, control was still something she had to focus on.

As she continued to work her way into the more difficult spells, the silence was a key way she kept her control. The last thing she needed was to be working with her charms and loose focus. Unsurprisingly, that's what happened though.

"I…I did it!"

That was all she heard, but it was loud enough to make her jump, her focus on the charm gone and the remaining power that was going to be focused dissipating into nothingness. Arinea scowled at the air, spinning around as she tried to figure out where the noise was coming from. Aparently she wasn't alone.

Argor grimaced, tapping at the ring on his neck again. A subtle hiss escaped from his being.

If only I had..just a little more power. Just a little. Maybe this thing prevents me from getting too much control.

His hands move to his ring and he attempts to pry it off. He feels the binds loosen, and for a moment, Argor believes he’s making progress here. But a sharp burning sensation in his hands immediately caused him to flinch away. Arguably, Argor could feel the ring tighten even more, as if to taunt him.

Even though he has a natural fire immunity, it’s not to say that he can’t get burnt. It’s just enough to warn him off of trying to release himself from its grasp. Argor glances at his hands for a moment, before sighing, folding his arms, and beginning to walk in a random direction. He’s going to head back to the caverns soon, but he suppose he’ll have a last walk before then. Unknowingly, he heads in the direction of a certain Angel.

@gracehustle

The voice had put Arinea on edge, to say the least. Even as she went back to practicing her magic a minute later, it would've been a lie to say she wasn't curious as to who the voice belonged to. With a divided focus on the different topics, it was difficult to keep her magic going though, meaning she retreated back to working with her protection magic.

She had more luck with the easier magic, thankful for the fact that this type of magic was something she could do even without the silence as it came back. Whoever had yelled seemed to be gone, or at least silent for the moment, and she didn't really feel like getting them to interrupt her by yelling back. More than likely they were just another angel anyway, maybe one that was sent to check on her.

Argor continued to walk, until he came to see the angel. Well, he wasn’t sure if she was angel or demon, given she was in human form. She also seemed to be practicing magic, much like him, and also..Much better at control, Argor noticed.
He hadn’t actually looked into many types of magic, but he was familiar with protection spells. Given demons didn’t practice those spells as common, he was leaning towards her being an angel.
Angel.
The thought of meeting an angel had Argor unnerved for a multitude of reasons, mainly due to species history and conflict. He’d only met an angel a few times within his history, and each experience was met with cold stares, or fearful ones instead, in some shape or form.
The easily distracted Argor had fallen into his thoughts, once again.

@gracehustle

Arinea practiced silently, her focus on the spells she was doing and not her surroundings, which made it easy for the being she was sharing an island with to get close. She didn't even hear his footsteps until he was within her sight, and even then, she didn't look up until seconds later.

There was no easy way for her to distinguish whether they were a demon or angel, and frankly, she wasn't a big fan of that fact. Demons almost never tolerated being around her, or at least the few that she had encountered, and angels didn't venture as close to the demon's home as she did. As she thought, she realized she had pretty much been staring at him as her magic vanished for the moment.

Only one way to figure out if her guest was a friend or foe she decided. Start up a conversation. "Hello," She said, cursing herself immediately after for the less than brilliant start.

Argor barely noticed how motionless he was, staring off into the distance. He snapped out of it upon hearing her speak. “Oh,” he began, having trouble with coming up with words for a moment. “I..hello there!” Subtle in his movements, he backed up, making sure to keep the distance between them.

“You’ve..er..come here to train too?”

@gracehustle

"It's the first time I've been to this island, but yes," she replied, casually looking around to see if he had brought anyone with him. Arinea didn't make any move to start working with her magic again, staying where she stood with only the slightest shifts in how she stood. The awkward silence didn't help her as she tried to keep up her casual look, so she tried to keep it going even slightly, "It's a nice place to train, at least from what I can tell."

person_off
Deleted user

Argor also seemed to glance around, although for a multitude of reasons. While he was attempting to come off as subtle, it would be hard not to notice him not making complete eye contact. “Yes, quite.” He agrees, tapping at the ring on his neck.

“It’s also my first time here too,” he adds on. “There’s a lot of islands.”

@gracehustle

"One of the perks of living in Lyiosia, the number of islands. I don't think it's possible to visit all of them," She agreed. Her words were careful and she was sure not to reveal her angel origins or the importance she had as the youngest descendant of the High Angel. Arinea messed with the tiniest corner of her pale gray shirt as she talked, trying but failing to keep eye contact for longer than a few seconds. Who would blame her for being a little skittish though? Talking to random strangers, especially ones that could be either demon or angel wasn't something she normally did after all.

person_off
Deleted user

“True,” Argor said, glancing to the side. Unsure of what to do. How should he react to the situation at hand? Things seemed to be going good right now though; after a moment he looked back to her. “What type of thing were you training? Like, what type of magic or technique or whatever..“ He drifted off.

@gracehustle

Arinea couldn't completely hide the look of excitement in her eyes as the topic switched to magic, but she did dull it down to a small smile, "I was working with protection magic when you came over, but charms before that. What about you?" She seemed much happier to talk about magic, seeing as it was the one thing she excelled at.
