Adella shook her head. "Please escort him here to my quarters. My quarters are much more private than the throne room, especially for the matter I need to talk to him for."

"Yes, mistress." Harlow nodded before heading back to the throne room.
"Wizard Deniw? The queen has requested for you to meet her in her chambers. I will take you there." Harlow said, gesturing for the wizard to follow him back to Adella's room.
Harlow knocked on the door, again. "Wizard Deniw is here, mistress."

Adella opened the door, having been waiting. "Deniw, thank you for coming."
"I wasn't excited for it."
"I know, but this is an emergency. Harlow, stand guard outside."

"Yes, mistress." Harlow said, stepping to the side to let the wizard into the room. He could only wonder why Adella needed the wizard so bad, but it wasn't his place to question her ideas or motives.

As soon as the door was closed, Adella dropped her stern demeanor. "Deniw, I'm scared. It's grown further and further up my arm. It's creeping over my shoulder. What do I do?"

It was hard to make out what Adella was saying, but Harlow could hear the worried tone in her voice. He frowned. What could make Adella so nervous? Halow shook his head. The mistresses business is her own. I should stay out of it unless she involves me.

"Hmm, OK," Deniw said. "Can you take your sleeve off to show me?"
Adella did so, carefully taking the top half of her dress off. The gave Deniw full view of her arm.
"Ah, yes. Yes, it is spreading. How much have you been using?"

Harlow stood outside the door, leaning against the wall. He was extremely tired after the journey and contemplated sitting down, but decided against it. He didn't want the mistress to catching him slacking off.

"I…I've been trying to limit it. I'm scared, I don't want it to overcome me. What will happen to me if it does?"
"As you know, some spells will use more darkness than others. There's only been one case of a witch or wizard being completely overtaken by darkness."

Harlow leaned his head a bit close to hear the discussion. Again, he was not able to make out words, only the tone of their voices. He hated hearing Adella worried, but he was more worried about what could make Adella worried.

"Yes. Maguna was overcome by darkness, and she became a monster. Her powers were stripped but she never returned to her former appearance. No one knows where she went."

Harlow perked up when he was able to catch a word, or rather a name. Maguna. It seemed fimilar, but he couldn't place it at the moment.
"Maybe I can ask around later about it." He thought as he held his head, a headache beginning to form, leaving unable to think straight.

Deniw began to properly inspect the marks on Adella's arm, running his fingers along it. "Yes…this is very interesting. It's similar to what Maguna had, but at the same time it's quite different."

Harlow closed his eyes, hoping it would help with his growing head ache; it didn't. He began to think on the name Maguna. Were they a pervious ruler somewhere? Were they a witch or wizard? Did they know Adella? His head hurt.
