@shattered_heart

I've recently discovered the world of asian drama and my soul has been consumed. Has anyone else suffered this fate yet?
No one I know is into them and I'm all alone in my obsession. I can only watch them from Youtube so it's hard for me to find them. I have watched or begun the below list:

  • Oriental Oddysey (Finished)
  • Suddenly Seventeen (Finished)
  • Bride War (Finished)
  • First Time (Finished)
  • Novoland: Castle in the Sky (finished all except half the last episode as the subs went dodgy)
  • Legend of Fuyao, Song of the Phoenix, Young Warriors (started, but it was removed halfway)
  • 10 Miles of Peach Blossoms (in the middle of watching)
@shattered_heart

Okay, I guess it's just me then.

@shattered_heart

Guess it's still just me. I'll just add however, I finished 10 Miles of Peach Blossoms and have started Ashes of Love.

You called? I LOVE KDRAMAS!! I don’t know if you know about Viki but it’s a free aight full of all sorts of Asian dramas. 10/10 would recommend and is definitely the best sight I’ve found. I haven’t seen any of the ones you’ve mentioned but I’ve seen all sorts of other ones, my favorite being Strong Woman Do Bong Soon.

The only kdrama that I've watched is "Blood" and that's only because my friend is a hardcore kdrama/kpop fan and she got me into it. I really enjoyed it and thought it was cool, the ending made me cry lol

@Sugar-Lover

I’ve been dying to watch blood. It’s next on my list to watch because I know Ku Hye-sun! She is such a good actress!

Omg yessss, it's great, I would totally recommend 10/10. Though it's been a long time since I've watched it and forgot all of the actor's names lmao

@Sugar-Lover

I would watch it right now but Im currently in the middle of two and all the episodes are an hour each. I first saw Ku Hye Sun in Boys Over Flowers which I would definitely recommend

Big oof that's a lot of hours watching those shows #dedication and I'll make sure to check it out. I recently started watching a kdrama thats called "Time" I think, but I haven't been able to continue watching it because school drains the life out of me

I did discover Viki and was really excited. But then my parents put Parental Guide (because my siblings and I wouldn't go to bed on time) on the internet and for some reason the site became blocked. So Youtube is the only one I can use, but unfortunately, there are hardly any full episodes with eng subs.

Aw, I've been dying to watch that one. I can't believe I didn't mention it above, but I have watched You're Beautiful and fell instantly in love with it.

@shattered_heart

I also watched Love 020 (movie) which was pretty good if I remember correctly. I didn't end up finishing Ashes of Love as I discovered Princess Agents. I'm about halfway through, I think. It's so sad though.

I know how you feel. I've found some other sights (that don't work as well, but have dramas) like dramacool.bz, fast drama.me, dailymotion, viewasian.tv and there's one more I can't remember the name of. (I don't actually use all the sights listed above so I don't know how well they actual work, or if they'll be blocked)

I'm currently in the middle of To the Beautiful You and Oh My Ghost (which is on Netflix. I forgot they have a lot of dramas there)

Now that you mentioned it, I watched two ghost dramas but they were just movies. I don't remember what they were called though. I really wish we had netflx but then again, Asian drama is my dark secret so I wouldn't be able to watch them on there anyway.

@shattered_heart

Oh, the most beautiful thing happened! I just rechecked and Viki is accessible. I think my parents removed the parental guide think.
I can now watch finish Boys Over Flowers, Legend of Fuyao, Song of the Phoenix (if I can bother). And start others I always wanted to watch like, Chinese Paladin and Ice Fantasy. I can't believe it. I'm so thrilled.

@Sugar-Lover

Oh, I’m so excited for you! Viki has endless dramas and if you ever need a recommendation I know a few good ones *cough * Strong Woman Do Bong Soon *cough *

@shattered_heart

I've heard so many recommendations for that. Problem is, I don't know where to even start. Maybe I'll finish Legend of Fuyao.

@Sugar-Lover

Historical dramas are always so good.

There’s web dramas that are basically 8 minutes an ep so you can literally watch in entire series in an hour. I like to watch those when I really want to watch a drama, but feel like I need to complete it before I do something else.

@shattered_heart

Yeah, historical dramas are probably my favourite.
What web dramas would you recommend?

@Sugar-Lover

Some good ones I’ve seen:
Romance: Wednesday 3:30, Choco Bank (if you know EXO this drama has Kai), 9 Seconds Eternal Time, Never Die
Horror: Nightmare Teacher
Historical: Splash Splash Love
Other: After School: Lucky or Not (1&2), Dream Knight, To Be Continued, Part Time Idol

Ones I want to see and have heard that are good: I Am…, 109 Strange Things, First Seven Kisses, Spark

Most, if not all are on Viki and some of the categories overlap so I just put the main genre that they are

@shattered_heart

Thanks, I'm going to take a look. I restarted Legend of Fuyao because it's been so long since I started it. I was originally halfway.

@shattered_heart

@Suga-Lover__Canihavesomesuga__ The ghostmovie I watched was called Dont Worry I am a Ghost. Another good one was The Girl Who Became a Photo. They are drama specials on Youtube.
I am now on ep 45 of Legend of Fuyao. It is so hard not to get side tracked though. I was going to watch the first couple of episodes of Strong Woman Do Bong Soon but got mixed up and started watching Wieghting lifting fairy, before realising, lol.
I was also able to finish off, Novoland castle in the sky.

@Sugar-Lover

I started Weightlifting fairy by accident too, lol. I thought I clicked on something else and didn’t realize it wasn’t what I wanted until the end of the episode.
Also The Girl Who Became a Potato? Why am I urged to watch that without actually knowing what it’s about?
I sadly, haven’t started any new dramas unless you count Sixteen but that’s a variety show…But I keep coming across ones that look good.

@shattered_heart

You should really watch it. It is kind of confusing like, its one of those ones where the audience is left to decide what happened themselves, but still totally worth it.

Honestly though, there are so many options on what to watch but so little time. My list is endless.

@Sugar-Lover

I just looked it up and realized it’s a movie. I’ll definitely watch it soon, even if it does have a open ending. I still have no idea what it’s about, but the title has me hooked, lol

The best part about kdramas is also their worst part; theyre an hour long. Also there’s only one season. So you think you actually can watch 10 dramas in a month, but really it’s almost impossible.
On a side note, my friend and I had a sleepover once and we watched 3 web dramas because we were bored. And it came into conversation with one of our teachers how we watched 3 whole tv shows start to finish during the weekend. She thought we meant ‘normal’ length shoes with 3-5 seasons. We didn’t bother to correct her

@shattered_heart

Aw, you are so lucky though. I dont think anyone in my family or any of my friends would be interested. I really wish I had a drama lover to share them with. I kind of wanted to watch them with my younger brother, but he is a little dyslexic so he cant do subtitles, like I can.

Besides, I tried watching one with my sister once, but it got awkward in a very cringey scene. It was a girl disguising as a guy. They dont usually show anything, but it was still awkward. I was gonna try Princess Agents but I remembered theres a scene in the first episode, that would be awkward. I am so lonely watching them all to myself. And I think most people would judge me.

@Sugar-Lover

That was two years ago and I’m not really friends with that person anymore. They kinda just stopped talking to me, so now I don’t have a kdrama friend. All of my other friends don’t know that I like kdramas, so now I’m lonely when I watch them.
And why do they always have those awkward cringey scenes in every drama ever? Like no matter what it is, there’s always a scene that fits that description

@shattered_heart

And if they dont have any scenes, they at least imply one.
Legend of Fuyao doesnt really have one though, that I remember. Well, there was that scene a girl climed into the main guy's bed. But he knocked her out, lol.
Its so loneky though, having this amazing secret just to oneself. You just want to share it with everyone but no one else feels the same. I found a series once and I shared it with my sister, and she shared it with everyone, and they kinda killed the fun of it, so it is a complicated business.

@Sugar-Lover

It is like having this amazing secret that you want everyone to know, but you know they won’t understand it. I once showed my brother a drama because it had a lot of action and crime in it, but he stopped watching after the second episode because there was a lot of romance in it. It’s like no matter what the plot and genre is, it’s always a romance.
