My characters Elton and Tanner are a couple but I don't know how they meet. Both are 24, Elton is a barista and Tanner is a waiter at Olive Garden. Elton is a guy and Tanner is a non binary male who still goes by male pronouns.
Also, date ideas are fine too! They love to travel, Elton plays pranks on his four roommates, Tanner is a fashionista chef. Ideas? GO!
Maybe they met because Tanner accidentally walked into a prank that Elton set up for one of his roommates? :)
What if Elton is supposed to meet a blind date at Olive Garden (already a bad sign, right? XD) and he gets stood up? Tanner is his waiter and realizes what's going on and tries to cheer him up! And then they end up hitting it off :)
maybe they're into fitness so Elton was jogging in the park and sees Tanner who's having a picnic by himself(?) or smth like that. it could be halloween and they're carving jack-o-lanterns in the park. idk.
maybe they both at are a social event(party, concert, convention, fun course, etc.) with different friends and they run into each other/one trips over the other. Or maybe they both recognize a song, and talk about how obsessed they are with them, or a similar situation.
Maybe if Olive Garden is near where Elton works, they could bump into each other on the street on their way to/from work. Or Tanner could get coffee at the place where Elton works either before work, after work, or on a break.

I'm just gonna give you my dream date, which is getting pizza and playing videogames while snuggling. Maybe the one that's a chef could cook the pizza.
Hey, let's go a different route with this.
Elton goes on a first date with a girl his friends set him up with(I'm imagining that he's pan so this would work out) and they go to Olive Garden for dinner. She's being super snobby, making fun of his outfit, checking her phone (and doing the obnoxious 'OMG food selfies' or whatever) and he's super upset. Her friends said she was very nice but socially awkward and they're like "Y'all would be great together" but it CLEARLY didn't work out. Tanner, now, is their waiter, and he falls in love with this customer (Elton) right away just cause he's super super suuuper cute. He can see how upset this stranger (Elton) is but doesn't want to do anything, also he sees that this guy is taken so now HE'S upset. He is all flustered and mixes up a customers order while thinking about Elton's hair and eyes and skin tone and he is so embarassed he just runs straight to the bathroom. Turns out Elton went in their too cause he is upset as well and they awkwardly meet while washing their hands. The two are sort of staring at each other funny, trying to make it so the other doesn't notice (but maintaining weird eye contact like half the time) and then they realize THERE IS ONLY ONE HAND DRYING THINGY. So then they are just standing their extra awkwardly making funny hand gestures to the thing and then Tanner is like "omg I've been watching you with your girlfriend are you okay??" and Elton just sorta shrugs and is like "she's not what I'm looking for, I guess." and then one of them blurts out "would you like to go to a movie or something sometime?" and then the other sort of stands there for a second and the first one gets super embarrassed assuming the other is straight but then person #2 is like "yeah… totally… here's my number" and writes it on a little slip of paper thats wet from his hands and the other person keeps it forever and ever and they have a great relationship the end!!!
