Gay couple for school writing assignment

I have to make a short story for class, but my story ends in the two (same sex) main characters getting together… it woulden't be bad but i don't know if he's homophobic or not, plus it's built into the plot so the story would be very hard to write without it, but here's the things i can do

1. keep the story the same, have an easy time writing it but risk him not liking it and/or giving me a faulty mark because of the main characters relationship
2. just forget about the relationship, try to just make them friends, and have the story feel stereotypical and not stand out
3. forget about the story all together and save myself the trouble
   if you have an opinion i would like to hear it

If your teacher marks you off on your writing assignment for not agreeing with your point of views than he is not doing his job correctly. He would be stifling your creativity and discouraging free thought. You should absolutly have the freedom to write what you want, and I think you should turn your story in as is. That said, I don't know how old you are or how accepting of LGBTQA+ representation people in your area are, but if you go to high school or are even younger and have supportive parents, hopefully if this teacher gives you an unfair mark your parents will back you up and talk to the teacher about it. That's all I've got. I hope everything works out for you :)
