Help with the drive of characters

I have a decently sound plot and idea of where my story needs to go, but I need a reason for my characters to fight. Its set with a generically corrupt government and one mc is heavily involved. Any ideas/inspiration?

How specifically is the Governmemt corrupted? That’s where all the specific story potential lies in a dystopia.
