Pandemic apocalypse help please

I've been tossing around this idea about a disease that only kills fully developed humans (basically adults) that wipes out a bunch of the population and we enter into an apocalyptic scenario.
Does anyone have any sort of critiques they could add to kind of help me work on this plot? Like, is this even a good idea?

Yeah, that sounds like it could be really cool. (I don't think that would ever actually happen, but when has that ever stopped fiction writers?) You'll need to come up with some fake science for it though. Also, by "fully developed" do you mean post-puberty, or do you mean completely fully developed? Because the brain doesn't stop developing until around your mid twenties. Also you'll have to think about how this disease spreads, if it can be stopped/prevented/cured, how long it takes for the infected to die, what the symptoms are, how society will function when most of/all of the "fully developed" people are dead.
