"Venus, who's at the door?" her father asked from the living room. Venus quickly tucked her hair behind her ear and applied just a touch more of lipstick.
"It's my date, Daddy!" Venus called back, slipping money, her phone, and extra makeup into her purse before heading slowly down the stairs so that she didn't mess up her hair. Her father had already opened the door and was giving Ender a reproachful stare. She descended farther down and smiled as Ender's eyes came into view.

Ender paused. Wow… "Hey Venus!" He smiled.

"Hey Ender," Venus smiled shyly back. "Bye Daddy. I'll be back later, okay?" She gave him a hug and whispered in his ear, "Don't scare him away." She pulled back and her father winked.

Ender took her hand and led her to the car. "I assume that was your dad?"

"Yes. He's very protective of me," Venus smiled, sliding into the passenger's seat.

"Mine once shook my coke before handing it to me. No wait, he's done that more than once." Ender put the keys in the ignition. "Where do you want to go?"

"Suprise me," Venus said. She didn't like saying it out loud, she wanted to dance, but Ender was driving, so she gave in.

"Okay, I've already decided. Now you have to guess."

"Um… the hospital?" Venus guessed teasingly.

Ender raised an eyebrow. "You were just there Venus. Why, are you missing it?"

The truth was he had no idea where they were going.
