"Well let's go then." Bren said, pushing his way through the crowded streets and showing up at the cafe door. "Heard you were having a crisis."
"Damn right I am, get over here!" She grabbed Bren's hand and Oliver's hand and pulled them around the counter and in the kitchen.
"Geez Car, what's is it?" Oliver asked, stumbling into the kitchen after her.
"Prepare yourselves," Carolyn said dramatically. "I . . . just got asked out. For tonight." She crossed her arms, almost hugging herself.
Bren paused for a moment then burst out laughing, wiping away tears from his eyes he said. "I knew it, I knew the day would finally come."

"I gotta go!" Carolyn pushed herself up and out the kitchen door and found one of the girls she had invited sitting at a booth. She went up to her, smiling. "You came!"
