"Smart girl." Danielle laughed. "Okay, we'll start easy. Do you have any celebrity crushes, and who are they?"
Marcus nodded slightly, looking at the floor. "O-okay..gool..I-I mean, cool! I..my brain combined 'cool' and 'good'.." He sighed, putting his face in his hands.
Annika rolled her eyes. “Um, not really, tbh. Okay, truth or dare?”
Otis looked down at the floor. “It-it’s fine…” he said, again, not sure what to say.

"Dare; gimme another one." Danielle said excitedly. This is nice! I wonder how Marcus is doing with that other kid..
Ugh, Stars, why must I be so awkward!? Marcus peeked at Otis, then glanced down as his stomach growled the slightest bit. "Um..d-do you know when we go to dinner?" He asked quietly.
"Hoo, boy." Annika said, trying to think of a dare. "Oh! I dare you… to sing showtunes in the middle of the gym for Free Time!" she said, obviously pretty pleased with herself.
Otis could obviously see that Marcus was uncomfortable, but Otis didn't know what to do, so he simply answered- still looking at the ground, "Um, ten minutes, I think."

"Uuhgghh, you darned theater kid." Danielle groaned, throwing her head back dramatically. "But, I mean, I guess I did ask for it, so fine. Any suggestions on that? Also, truth or dare?"
Marcus nodded, looking back to the floor. "Okay, thanks. I-I'm just gonna…" With a quiet sigh, he stood and headed up the ladder to his own bed.
Annika giggled. "Annie?" she suggested. "Also, truuuuth…?" she said slowly, and unsurely.
"Kay." Otis said, slowly continuing to write in his journal and quietly hum songs.

"Mmm..I don't know much of Annie." She kept her head back for a moment, thinking of something to ask. "Hm. Can you tell me something embarrassing you did when you were younger? Like, before you knew any better?"
Marcus flopped onto his pillow, pushing out a breath of air as he stared out the window. He looked at his notebook, then turned onto his back and looked through it, an idea forming.
"Well, funny story, I used to lick my toes, and then lick play-doh, because they tasted the same…" Annika said, blushing but smiling at the same time.
Otis got a little lost in the world of his notebook, and began quietly singing to himself. He hated to admit it, even though everyone said it-he was pretty good.

Danielle cringed, but couldn't help but laugh as she covered her mouth and snickered. "Gross, dude. Okay, I'll save ya the trouble of asking and say, truth."
Marcus rolled and leaned over the bed, silent as he studied Otis for a few moments before leaning back and reaching under his pillow for his pencil bag.
Annika rolled her eyes. "I was young." Then she smiled. "So, do you like anyone here at camp, even though it's the first day? And if not, what do you look for in a guy or love interest?" she asked, saying it a little quieter. "My lips are sealed."
Otis continued quietly singing as he drew some sketches of animals.

"Pfft, right." Danielle said. "Well, I'm not picky, but I do like someone who's just…fun. Like, someone who'll just hang out and race with me at random times, and we can laugh at bad movies and stuff." She shrugged, then grinned. "And no, no one here has caught my eye, yet. Now, truth or dare?"
Marcus hummed quietly to himself, staying close to the edge of the bed so he could easily lean over if he needed to see Otis. He drew up a easy base for the new character.
Annika thought it over. “Truth.” she said, not wanting to find out what Danielle would do to her if she had chosen the second choice.
Otis occasionally glanced up at Marcus. Otis reached under his bed and single-handedly brought out a Cubs ball cap and placed on his head, covering his blondish-reddish- light brown hair.

"Awww, dude! Don't be a wuss, duuuuude!" Danielle whined playfully. "Uhhh…is there anyone here that you like?"
I feel like this is a bad idea…but it's..supposed to be a compliment more than anything. Marcus narrowed his eyes as he thought. It took him a few minutes, but once he was done, he moved his supplies aside. The picture was of Otis, but as a young sorcerer wearing a long cloak, one hand waving a wand in the air, and the other holding an enchantment book that had words and magic flying out of it. It was simple, but Marcus thought it looked okay. He hoped it looked okay. He leaned over and dropped the book next to Otis, then hid behind the bed's railing.
Annika rolled her eyes. “No. Truth or dare?”
Otis jumped a little bit as a paper landed next to him. His hat fell down, so he pushed it back up and looked at the paper. He smiled as he picked up his sketchbook and drew a simple cat, writing the word “Thanks” with a smiley face and dropping it over the railing of the upper bunk.

"Truth." Danielle glanced at the clock. "Is it food time, yet?" She asked.
Marcus smiled, taking the picture and leaning over to one of his smaller bags hanging next to the bed. He pulled out a folder and put it inside, then slid it back into the bag.
Annika rolled her eyes. “Jeesh.” she said with a smile. “The bottomless pit.” Annika's eyes darted around before they landed on a group of younger kids walking out from their cabins. “Oh! Do you have any siblings? By the way, five minutes.”
Otis looked at the clock. Five minutes till lunch. He then happened to glance out the window. Otis sat on the edge of the bed and peeked out, seeing two 8 and 7 year old girls waving to him. He waved back with a small smile on his face. Otis settled back down onto his bed and began to write “letters” to his younger siblings in different cabins.

"Ah, no siblings. But my mom has pretty much adopted my two best friends. I mean, they live with us and stuff so they're basically my brothers at this point." Danielle shrugged, then tilted her head a bit. "Any siblings with you? Also, bottomless pit?"
Marcus sighed and lay back on his pillow, staring at the ceiling. Otis said it wouldn't be long until they went to eat, but now Marcus didn't know what to do until then. He wasn't used to being in this kind of place without a friend with him at all times, but he and the only friend he had here were separated. Unless Otis counted, but they weren't yet close enough for Marcus to feel any comfort in that thought.
Annika smiled. "I have two sisters, who are super annoying. One's 9 and one's 3. My friend, Otis, has…" Annika began to count on her fingers and mouth the names of Otis' siblings. "Otis has 9 siblings." she said.
It was time for supper. Otis hopped out of his bed and walked over to the door, throwing on his Cubs baseball cap. They walked to the dining hall and sat down. Otis began to put taco fillings on his plate.
Annika and her cabin went to the dining hall. They sat down, and Annika made herself a taco after sitting next to Danielle. Annika glanced over at a sign, which read, "Please sit with your cabin during meals." She wished that she could sit next to people from other cabins, but alas.

Danielle gently swung her short legs under the table,humming a song to herself as she prepared a plate. Then, she sighed. Ah, jeez, I gotta yell 'parallelogram' at some point before we leave the dining hall.
Marcus looked around to see if he could spot Danielle, but his eyes caught a sign instead, and he made a quiet, worried noise. So we can't even eat together? Still, he took a seat next to Otis, glancing warily at all the other kids. Now that they were all gathered up like this, it was a bit scarier to him realizing just how many people there were.
Annika grinned, gently nudging Danielle as a prompt to do the dare.
Otis glanced over at Marcus, who looked worried. I've probably bothered him enough for one day…still, though…eh, nevermind… Otis thought, dismissing the idea and eating his "taco".
