Grace nodded and crept out of the building, checking around corners to be sure no one could see what she was doing. No one was out in the open except for Jane. Probably patrolling the perimeter or something. Though that meant that Jake wasn't in sight. Who knew what he was doing to the kids locked up. If she was honest she didn't care much about Adrielle. Daso was the only one who didn't scare her. And she loathed Jasper.
She stopped the thoughts in their tracks. Who am I to judge, she cursed herself, I have done as bad as they have. She blocked the images before they could come, If not worse. She paused to take deep breaths to calm herself. She could feel her hands shaking, and tried to stop them. If only she hurried they could all escape this nightmare. Adam would keep them safe. The comforting voice spoke in her head. You are not like the others, it whispered. They chose to become what they are. You had no choice. She wanted to argue, but shut the thoughts up before they could respond. She didn't have the time for this.
She realized halfway there that she was heading to the restroom. Probably the best place for a secret call unfortunately. As she went in she hid her jump of surprise at the other girl there. Grace didn't recognize her but the other girl gave her a look that made Grace want to step back. Perhaps she was a friend of Adrielle's. Or, she flushed, maybe she simply remembered her from her performance earlier. No matter. The other girl finished and walked out the door.
Grace pulled out her hidden phone and pulled up Adam's contact. As she was about to press the call button the door swung open. She shoved the phone into her pocket guiltily and turned around to face whoever it was. It was Jane. Her first instinct was to run out but Jane was still blocking the door. Jane closed it behind her first checking to make sure no one noticed her. Grace's heart started racing. Jake was already acting insane, who knew what Jane would do to her. Jane must have seen the panic in her eyes because she held out a hand. "It's okay," she said. "I just want to talk." Hoping that she had miraculously not seen the phone she decided to play it as big as she could. "About what?" she snapped, hoping she sounded like Adrielle, without a single care in the world.
Jane's pitying gaze told Grace that she had easily seen through her facade. "I need you to know something." She glanced behind her shoulder as if she thought someone might suddenly come bursting in and hear the secret. She stepped closer to Grace. "I'm on your side." Grace subtly took a step back, unsure where this was going. Jane sighed. "Jake has crossed the line. It's insane."
Grace narrowed her eyes. "I never would've guessed."
"It's just," Jane continued, "I never signed up for this." Grace had to keep her mouth shut so that a "me too sister" didn't escape. Things were bad enough without provoking authority.
"I though… I don't know. I thought I could help. And then I found someone like me who wanted the same thing." Grace nearly laughed. Was Jane confessing her love of the guy?
They both heard the sound of a loud male voice. "Jane!" he shouted, "Where are you!" Jane looked guilty. "Coming!" she yelled. "I have to go," she said apologetically. "But you can trust me. I'm on your side. Remember that." And with that she left the building.
Troubled Teens (Closed)
(aww jane is so sweet)
"But that's wrong, you know?" he said, "even in juvie or jail or whatever, that's like…bad. Human rights and stuff. Like, shouldn't this place get shut down?"
Jasper squinted lazily at him. "Where the fuck is this coming from? Human rights? It's not like we gave a shit about any of that. I sure as fuck didn't care about the kids who stabbed each other with my shivs. Don't see why they'd care about us."
(I just got this image of Daso dropping Jasper and leaving without him as Jasper screams he will have revenge.)
"I'm tired of them treating us like this, though," he said, growing slightly less meek as he spoke. It was easier to shift the blame to the camp than it was for him to feel guilty. "It's not right! We could probably…I don't know…get this place to close…"
Cat watched Grace leave. She rolled her eyes and snuck out as soon as the other girl was out of sight. She walked straight with her head up like she was completely allowed to be doing this but then ducked behind a trash can near the dining hall. Her goal was to get to the Counselors cabin without being seen.
Jasper scoffed. "I really don't think there's anything we can do about it, sweetheart."
( @ the previous comment abt daso dropping jasper, that could go unexpectedly but it would only happen if jasper does something REALLY out of line, so if it did happen maybe not quite yet)
"Maybe not," he said, falling silent for a moment. "But…if we all work together…"
Jasper opened his mouth, then reconsidered. 'You think about that," he said finally, leaning back against the pillow. "If you manage to find a way to shut it down, i'm sure we'd all be more than happy to go to juvie."
"We could still run away," he muttered, pouting a little. "I'd be easier without Jake being such a psychopath all the time."
"Yeah, well, that can't be helped." Jasper wrinkled his nose. "Fucker didn't even say how long he'd keep us in here."
(Point.)
(I should write a phone call to Adam but I already did a big thing…)
(You can still write a phone call to Adam or you can just have Grace tell everyone what he said.)
Cat left her hiding place quickly going to the side of the councilors cabin. Jake was near the front door so she when the long way to stay out of sight.
"Yeah, well, that can't be helped." Jasper wrinkled his nose. "Fucker didn't even say how long he'd keep us in here."
"Guess you're right," Daso said. "You always are." There was a subtle hint of dissatisfaction in the genuineness of his voice.
Cat stood on her toes and peeked through a window. It was an empty office. She then saw that the window next to it was charged with ash. She knocked on it before looking through and seeing the boys.
Jasper sat up and looked at the window, squinting through the muddy glass. "Cat?" he said.
Cat waved and gestured for Jasper to open the window. "I'm here to get you out."
Jasper grinned. It was in no way a grateful grin, or a happy grin, for that matter. It was simply victorious. He popped the window open and stepped back, looking at Daso. "Well, I guess I should give you more credit for hoping we'd escape. Or maybe you should wish for a million bucks and for your dad to die in his sleep. That might work too."
"Yeah, whatever," Daso said, his voice rapidly losing its typical cheerful quality. "I'm so glad to see you, Cat," he said, brightening up some. "What's our next move?"
Cat nodded. "So Grace is making a call with her Lawyer, But…I don't think this is going to be good for us. Not sure about you Daso but I'm guessing based off his personality Jasper isn't going to just be let go," She explains.
"I might be sent back home," he said, the thought of that making him feel sick. "And then I don't know where I'll go. I'm not sure if I like this plan."
Cat nodded still standing outside. 'I say we run. everyone focused on Jake being insane. We slip away and find somewhere safe to lay low," she suggests.
"I like that plan a lot better," he said decisively. "You know what? That could actually be fun. We could explore whatever city we're close to, if we're close to anything at all."
"That would be good. We better be quic-" Jake appeared a few feet away.
"What are you doing here?" He yells walking closer. (Does someone want to control Jake? I feel like I wouldnt do his insaness justice).
( @The-Althalosian is rly good at it, should we wait til he's on?)
(sry i was offline for so long)
(i personally think he'd do it best so we should wait for him)
Jasper looked away from the conversation and his eyes darkened with malice. "The asshole's back. Of course."
(What should i do?)
(well jake kicked the shit outta her so maybe keep that in mind when you write her reaction. also remember she's in cuffs)
