So like I said, your characters will be siblings, by birth or adopted, we'll see. Basically the plot is focused on living in a home with an abusive mom. Lots of angst definitely, also they won't be thinking the mom's abusive; at least not at first. I would love to see some sibling dynamics going on along with whatever you feel like.
Also it's more emotional abuse than physical.

Usually angry or just not present. She has a tendency to shut down and not speak a lot in new environments unless she deems it absolutly neccesary. She has a lot of energy and gets in a lot of fights. Zero impulse control.
Appearance: Korean. Brown eyes, a round face. Very strong, stocky, athletic build. Shoulder-length black hair. 5'5. Short, bitten nails.
Backstory: This is her 13th foster home. Hey parents and older brother died in a car crash when she was 3. She was the only survivor but she didn't have any other family, so she's bounced from home to home for as long as she can remember.

Appearance: Right on the dot for being 6ft; he’s taller. It runs in his family; at least, his blood-related family. Grey eyes, light skin. Longer brown hair going slightly below his ears, usually ties it up (but leaves small strands on the sides). Personality: sort of sheltered but not really. there are certain topics Matko knows a bit too much about, but others…there’s some pretty obvious information out there that Matko lacks. likes to masquerade himself as a tired lil guy, but in reality, he’s eager to impress any sort of parental figure in his life. Around adults, he may act as a rule follower, but truly, he’s more of a bend-the-rules, stubborn, maybe even arrogant type of deal. Likes to express himself. Doesn’t like others messing around with his belongings at all.
Background: came from a bigger family, who gave him up (along other children who went to different homes) for reasons to be determined. this is his second home. aspires to have a motorcycle at some point.
Other: English not his first language, but he was learning it pretty early in life. his first family spoke Latvian in the house, sometimes mixing in English. in a predominantly English speaking place, Matko usually speaks English, but if he’s feeling particularly upset, he might sprinkle in some Latvian. or if he wants to throw someone off. artistic; but only with one medium, and that’s spraypainting. anything else, Matko’s not good at.
Sam's dynamic is "shut up and go away" or "fight me"
