Alastor avoided the slushie aisle, not really feeling in the mood for something sweet. Like Lucky, he put non-perishable food items into his backpack and sighed with relief when he found miniature first aid kits and small bottles of pepper spray.
He chuckled when he saw Zeus sitting patiently besides the beef jerky on the shelves and Alastor ripped a package open for the dog to eat.
Lucky was glad to see Alastor making smart choices. He was beginning o realize the age gap might play a big part in how well people survived. Liam, for instance, had headed straight for the slushies, like a normal kid would, where Alastor saw the value in other things. He had to smile at Lucas as he watched the guy fill his slushie cup several times. Or maybe slushies are just good and I should stop being judgey.
A thought struck him, and he looked around the counter, finally finding what he wanted. It was one of those cardboard cupholders that held 4 cups. He went over and filled 3, thinking he could bring one back for Devon, June, and Ariella. He knew Devon and Ariella wouldn't be happy about them bringing more people home, so maybe this peace offering would help. June would be fine.
He had filled his saddlebags already, so he got Lucas and Alastor's attention. "I'm going to head back. Lucas can show you 3 exactly where we are, if you'd like to join us."
He headed out, nodding at the quiet girl by the truck, and managed to get into the saddle without spilling the drinks. He took off for home at an easy trot.
(And now we're all set up to be in one group! :D )
