Cameron opened the door on the other side and carefully set the sleeping Lily down on the seat. He shut the door quietly and got into the passenger’s side of the car.

Lilah closed the door and climbed into the driver's seat, buckling up. She glanced over at Cameron and smiled.
"You ready?" she asked, a bit nervous.
Cameron smiled back warmly. “Yep, ready when you are.”

"Off we go, then," Lilah breathed with a smile as she carefully pulled out of the driveway. "Your place for clothes first, right?"
Cameron blinked at the dashboard. “That was the plan, right? Was it?” He looked at her, extremely confused for no particular reason.

"Yes, it was. Why don't you sleep in the way there?" Lilah suggested as she started down the road.
Cameron gave a faint grunt in response and laid back into the seat. It wasn’t warm like he’d wanted it to be, but he drifted off anyway.

Lilah sighed when he fell asleep. She had a long drive ahead of her, and she had no idea what to expect at the end of it.
Cameron crossed his arms close to his chest and his head fell onto his right shoulder. He inhaled deeply, before falling into a deep slumber.

"Cam. Cameron. We're here," Lilah said softly as she shook his shoulder.
Cameron gave a tiny grunt and rose his stiff neck, blinking sleepily.
“Where are we?” He asked rather stupidly.

"We're at your castle. You need to run in and pick up some of your stuff, quick," Lilah explained gently.
Cameron stretched out and unbuckled. “Alright, I’ll be back in a sec.” He got out, slipped into the castle through the back way, curved up the steps into his room. He pulled out a duffle bag from his closet, packing it with snacks and drinks for the trip, clothes and toiletries for himself, and a few large Ziplock bags of Lily’s puppy food. Soon he was back out of the castle and was jogging up to the Jeep.

Lilah had looked back to check on the dogs wgile Cameron went inside. To her relief, they were both out cold.
When she looked up and saw Cameron coming, she smiled and gestured beckoningly for him.
Cameron stole a glanced over his shoulder and sat down in the seat, smiling in relief too.
“Williams isn’t here yet, so we’ll have to go soon. He’s usually here around this time.”

"Let's go, then," Lilah said with a smile as she started to back out. "Seatbelt, please."
“Oh, sorry!” Cameron hastily buckled in. “Sorry, I forget to do that all the time.”

"It's okay. Now… To the west coast…" Lilah breathed as they were on their way.
Cameron nodded and took a soda from his bag. “Want one?”

Lilah shook her head. "No, thanks. If I drink that, I'll be jittery."
Cameron nodded and cracked open the can. “It’ll fill ya up.”

"It might, but so will a water," Lilah pointed out with a smile.
Cameron rolled his eyes. “Alright, lemmie grab you one.”

"Thanks, Cam," Lilah chuckled. "Hey, I'm surprised you're not asleep again."
Cameron smiled, stretched across the car to grab a bottle from te cooler amd handed it to her.
“There you go, my lovely mistress.”

Lilah scrunched up her nose at the nickname as she took the water. "Please don't call me that. I don't like what it implies with its archaic meaning."
Cameron gave her puppy dog eyes. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it like that.”

"It's okay, I didn't think you did," Lilah said with a shrug, turning to give him a small yet reassuring smile.
Cameron booped her nose. “Good, cuz I promise I didn’t.”

Lilah rolled her eyes at the boop before turning back to face the road again.
"You're impossible sometimes," she declared with light laughter in her voice.
