Nicola finished the apple juice, looking up at her and tilting his head. "Pictionary? I'm really good at Uno too. Oh, and Candyland! I love Candyland."
(My gosh this kid is so pure. He’s one of my favorites now.)
Lix silently ponders how this kid ended up getting the queen rank. Then remembers that this behavior always got people to let their guard down. "No," she directs his attention to the girl, "Why don't you see if you can earn her trust by getting her number."
"Okay!" Nicola's eyes twinkled and he gave her a thumbs up. So. . . are we going to play Candyland after I do that?

"Oh, you're cute. But she's in the middle of a convo here. Bye," Aaleyah says, smiling as she shoos him away.
"Oh. I'm really sorry for interrupting your conversation. But thank you for the compliment." What do I do? If I stay, it'd be rude, but if I don't, Lix will kill me.
Lix took a drink of holy water and watched as Nicola was over eager and did not wait for the opportune moment to introduce himself. She laughed and waited to see how he recovers.

Aaleyah's phone rings. "Why can't you catch the bus?" She talks in Arabic. "Get mum to pick you up."…. "I'm working."….. "Fine. Be there in ten." She turns to Nicola. "You're lucky. I have to pick my brother up from soccer practice."

"I'm 21. I'm not old enough to be a mum, let alone a soccer mum. No, my stupid brother Nazir is too lazy to catch the bus he normally catches, so of course he calls me. You should probably come with me Gen. You're not old enough to even be here."

Do soccer moms have a specific age? Interesting. "My friend wants your number." Nicola blurted out, stealing quick glances at Lix.
