Pluto partially unfolded her wings, making the odd coloration visible again. "Wasn't born an angel first off, I'm a sort of hybrid. The man upstairs tried recruiting me, but that was right after I found out he killed off all the rest of the hybrids. So I was hunted for a long time, still am. I'm just reserved for the important assassins. Besides, you think any true angels would want anything to do with someone who looks like this?" She put her hands in her jacket and shifted her feet, feeling suddenly self-conscious

"I think your wings are very nice, ma'am." Nathaniel commented. He hoped that his opinion meant something, considering he was an angel, if not a very good warrior under pressure
"So your a hybrid, like me? Finally! Come on, lets go to your truck." Joan pointed around, ready to leave.

She looked up, a small stunned smile on her face. She subconsciously fluffed her wings a few times. "Um, thanks." No angel had ever said anything nice to her before, especially not about her wings
"But, we should probably get to the truck. Follow me." She started to walk through the trees
(I'm not sure, it's currently about 7:00 where I am though) Nathaniel bowed slightly again before stopping himself, straightening up. "Sorry! It's going to be hard to not bow or call Joan 'ma'am'…"
Joan starts to follow, thinking about hybrids. "What are you a hybrid of?" Joan asked blindly.

"Uh. Well, I used to just be human. Kind of. Don't really know. Long story short, an angel named Hades was dying in my backyard and I sort of accidentally absorbed his grace. So now I'm this, I guess."
"That's interesting." Nathaniel said, trotting along behind them to keep up. "I'm pretty sure I'm just an angel."
"Hades? Also called Lucifer? How old are you?" Joan saw Nash's face and whispered, "It's ok to be polite and bow, if it's really that hard to stop don't worry. M'kay?"
"No, not Lucifer. Totally different guy. See I'm almost 200 years old. Y'know the Greek gods? They were all hybrid angels. Humans that were secretly a test type of new angel. They all went on the run when they started to be hunted, and Hades was the last original hybrid. He ironically got smacked down by a nuke about 2 years into WW2. Killed by the species you're trying to protect, now that's a way to go."
Nathaniel went pale. "That sounds awful! How many others were there?"
"Oh, that makes more sense. Do you want to travel into town with us?" Joan looked over to Nash, her wings shifting. "Do you want him to come?"
"Hard to say. As far as I know there were about 200. The fall of Greece and Rome? The hybrids being killed were kinda the cause of that."
"So your a hybrid, hybrid?" Joan turned back to Pluto. "Do I have that right?" She asked.
She chuckled. "That's one way to put it."
That didn't seem to make much sense to Nathaniel, but he didn't question it. "Where are we going again?"
"M'kay, and Nash?" Joan turned around. "We're going to his car, so we can go to town."
"Almost-Oh, never mind. Looks like he came to us." A large, beat up black truck sat parked in the middle of a dirt road they had stumbled on. Its headlights shone brightly in the shade of the trees, made more noticeable by the fact that it was getting dark
"He?" Joan was uneasy about the fallen night, as her father hated her out too late. "Uh, how far is the drive?" She looked toward Nash, "Are you alright staying with me tonight, or is there somewhere you have to go before dark?"
"It's not too far. I've got an apartment in town too if you need a place to stay for a bit. I'm sure my roommate won't mind."
"That's fine, it's not really like I'm able to get back anyways." He laughed weakly. "I'm sure my parents won't worry too much… I do wander sometimes."
"I can get us a suit at the Angel/Demon hotel, so no need. Thanks though." Joan pulled a backpack out of a pocket realm. Fixing it over her wings.
"Ok, well, are you lying to me?" Joan didn't think any parent would do that, unless something else was going on.
Pluto frowned. "You sure you're just lost kid?"
Nathaniel shook his head. "You'd know. I'm a terrible liar. I just like to wander around in the sky after dark to see the stars. They may think something's up by morning though."
"Thanks." Joan caught the key. "Drop by around noon, we'll all hangout. Oh, and Nash, I still think that's strange."
"Ok, well you make your mind up about where you're going. We've got about 12 hours till sunrise obviously, so…oh no." A low growling started to sound from outside the truck
Joan pushed Nash behind her, "What's that, Pluto?" Joan flared her scarred wings.
