"Maybe she became colorblind after whatever happened to her." Celia suggested, causing Yuki to shake his head.
"No, no. That wouldn't change her answer now, especially considering we have no proof that she's been conscious while outside." Yuki lifts his

hand

and points to the window behind you.
"Look out the window." Yuki murmurs, walking toward the window with the book in his hand.

@icecubes

I follow his hand and look out the window. "What are y- oh."
The grass, was not green. Neither were the leaves. Everything was a bright electric purple. I gasped, placing a hand on the window. "Holy ffffff- woahh," I said in awe. "We are not on Earth, are we?" I look to Yuki and Celia, who are watching me curiously.

"Earth? That's the name of this planet." Yuki begins, scratching his head in deep thought. "Do you know what Pangaea is?" Yuki turns the book to face you, pointing to an image of a large continent surrounded by water. Next to the image were the words; Pangaea: The only clustering of land on planet earth."

@icecubes

I squinted at the book he held open. "I do know what Pangaea is, but, not like that. I don't know where I learned this, but I know Pangaea was a theory about Earth millions of years ago. But it was said to have broken apart, which is why the land is where it is now. Or, at least where I thought it was. I don't know, I'm so confused."
I looked to Yuki in frustration. Nothing was adding up.

Yuki nearly drops the book as he and Celia exchange concerned, but confused looks.
"Well, you probably don't have amnesia, but at this point we're positive there is no way to draw a definitive conclusion." He mutters, straightening his back as he walks over to the door, turning the lock.
"Luckily, if it is amnesia, you might not even remember how to open a door, so if you wake up in the middle of the night wanting to wander around, you might not make it that far."
Celia chuckles and tosses the towel onto the counter, walking over to you.
"No need to sound so ominous, Yuki." She says with a grin, "Anyway, I'm super excited to get started on our adventure tomorrow morning. It's getting dark, so we should get ready to sleep. Plus, once we go to sleep, the time will pass by quicker, and the adventure will come quicker!"

@icecubes

"I don't think I'll be leaving on my own any time soon, especially at night," I mutter, glancing outside again. I make my way back to the couch and wonder if I would even be able to sleep. There are too many thoughts racing through my head. "But, yeah, I'm ready to sleep."
"Hey, Yuki?" I asked cautiously after settling down into the couch. "Um, is it normal here, for people to have blue ish skin?" If his skin is normal, is his hair natural too? Why does Celia look so normal?

Yuki's eyes grow gentle as he sits back down into the chair at the table. Celia stands up and goes to the other room to prepare for bed.
"It's normal for me, I guess you could say. Despite what Celia looks like, she herself has her own quirks too." He leaned back in the chair, eyes falling to the floor as he recounts his story.
"My race isn't common anymore, so I guess you could say I am an abnormal sight. Even when we did exist, we didn't do much exploring, so you'd only know about us from books and if you visited our town."
He's silent for a moment, looking back up at you with a quiet expression.

@icecubes

"Your race sounds interesting." I looked down at my own hands, wondering if I had anything special. But, I'm just human. "Tell me more," I insisted, hoping he had some cool stories about his kind. Anything to get me to relax, to take my mind off of the endless theories of what happened to me.
I reached over to the coffee table and grab the tea I never finished. It was cold now, but I took a sip anyways, awaiting Yuki's reply.

"Well," Yuki begins, clearly getting a bit comfortable in his chair and exhaling as if he was expecting you to ask further. "They were all genuinely marvelous and gracious. No one ever experienced much anger, or at least they never misbehaved. We merely did our own thing. Everyone got along and no one determined it necessary to cause any harm to each other. Most of all, we didn't merit what the humans did to us."
Yuki pauses, almost to avoid his voice breaking as he turns his head slightly away, eyes back on the floor.
"I apologize, maybe we should get to sleep, you don't want to hear about my tragic backstory, do you," Yuki mutters with a sniff as he straightens up his position in the chair.

@icecubes

I nod, showing that I was listening, but he slowly gets more emotional. "Most of all, we didn't merit what the humans did to us."
Humans? What did we do? From the looks of it, whatever we did was bad. For some odd reason, I'm not surprised, but I can't remember why.
"I apologize, maybe we should get to sleep, you don't want to hear about my tragic backstory, do you." Yuki says, sitting up. I want to give him a hug or something comforting, but I am glued to the spot.
I ask, in a soft tone, "I do want to hear, but only if you want to tell me, of course. What happened, Yuki?"

Yuki looks at you with an unreadable expression. He almost seemed surprised as he quickly rubbed his nose and nodded, turning to the door that Celia left in. He turned back and looked at you, crossing his hands in his lap as he prepares himself to elaborate.
"A handful of years ago a miniature army of humans arrived at our town. We never started any scandals or mishaps with the humans, but they concluded that they desired our extinction."
Yuki pauses and takes a quick breath before continuing.
"I didn't fight back. I fled. I didn't save anyone, not even my family." Yuki's eyes are transfixed on the ground by now, avoiding any eye contact as he holds back tears.

@icecubes

I take a deep breath, preparing myself for his story. Yuki begins to explain what the humans did, and what he did.
"I didn't fight back. I fled. I didn't save anyone, not even my family," he concludes, holding back tears. I push away the unknown anxiety in my chest and stand up, wrapping my arms tightly around the poor guy.
"But, you saved yourself. That has to count for something," I mutter. I can't imagine what he's been through, how much he's lost. It pushes the question as to who was my family? The thought set off my own tears, but I blinked them away. It's Yuki's moment.

Yuki almost wants to respond, but he knows if he tries, nothing audible will come out except for stifled sobs. Instead he accepts the hug and silently holds back more crying. After a few moments, he backs out of the hug and sniffs again, turning away from you.
"Anyway, you can sleep here on the couch. Celia wakes up when the sun rises but I wake up a little earlier so if you're an early bird too then try not to wake Celia. If not, we'll wake you up for breakfast."
He turns away and heads to the other room before pausing to look at you.
"Goodnight, Jenny."

@icecubes

I wave to Yuki and smile, "Goodnight!"
I adjust the blankets and lay down, but I didn't feel tired at all. I wonder when I'll wake up. I wonder why Yuki and Celia seemed to already trust me, with only a few hours of knowing me. I wonder what happened. My eyelids eventually became too heavy, and I slip into unconsciousness.
I wake up to the sounds of cooking and chattering. My brain forced my body to sit up for breakfast. I instantly remember everything that has happened and make my way to the other two. "Morning," I murmured, rubbing my eyes. "What's for breakfast?"

"Good morning, princess." Yuki muttered at you as he scrapes the spatula against the pot. Something was off, and you knew what it was. Celia's voice broke through your trance as you try to shake the memories of your dream flashing in your mind.
"Eggs and pork strips!" She chimed, but your thoughts were still preoccupied with what you dreamed.

"What do you see?"
Was that you that asked that? You're not sure, there's no one else there. There's nothing else there.
"I see her."
The voices are indistinguishable. You can't tell if there's two people or more, or if it's just you.
"No, that's…I've made a mistake exposing you to this."
"What?"

"Is she awake?" Were the words that woke you up.

@icecubes

I looked to Celia, a confused expression planted on my face from the remnants of my dream. "Uh, cool, sorry, I just-" My eyes flickered between Yuki and Celia. Should I tell them the dream? Would it help? I decided to take the chance. "I had a weird dream."
I took a seat at the table as they served the food. It all smelled delectable, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to eat. Everything that had happened was rather alarming and stressful.

Yuki and Celia give you concerned but caring glances. As they sit down, Yuki looks up at you expectantly.
"Do you think the dream may contain answers to your origins?" He murmurs calmly as they listen to you recount the events in your dream.

Yuki furrows a brow when you finish.
"Do you know who the 'her' is you're talking about? Or maybe who you were talking to?"
Celia mutters the last sentence you heard in your dream to herself as she tries to analyze what it could possibly mean.

@icecubes

I took a bite of the eggs.
"ov a l e g m g m a n" I shook my head, "No, I don't really know anyone outside of you guys." I thought about if someone might recognize me in the streets of this world, but from the history I remembered, I doubted that.

Yuki nods profoundly, but Celia slaps her fists on the table, standing up with that same energy she's never lost.
"Well, it's time to go out and look for answers, right?" She exclaims, grabbing her bag and sun hat. Yuki stands up with a sense of still-waking-up as he puts on his boots and coat.
"We can take the scenic route to the kingdom and see if the place where we found you will have any answers as well." Yuki muttered as the three of you make your way out the door and into the cluster of trees.

Celia and Yuki started to grow quiet due to running out of things to say, and you start to grow lost in thought. You're watching the trees bristle in the wind, thinking back to the few things you have that might answer what is going on. You'd watch a few birds fly by in the trees and chirp whatever song they must be singing. Something was off about those birds, but you couldn't seem to place what it was. The leaves and branches on the ground started to grow thicker, your terrain becoming more difficult to walk in. Yuki said this was the scenic route, but there doesn't seem to be much to look a-
Upon snapping back to reality, you realize Yuki and Celia are nowhere in sight. How long had it been since you wandered away from them? Have they noticed yet? Are they looking for you?
"Yuki? Celia!" You call out, the realization and concern settling into your heart. Where are they? Where are you?
Who are you?
While calling out for Yuki and Celia, the fear grows more urgent, and you start to run, forgetting that there are logs and rocks hiding under the leaves.
Your foot catches on a log sticking out from a nearby tree, which sends you flying forward to the ground.
"Hello?"
You hear a voice somewhere above you, but you know it's neither Yuki's nor Celia's. Sitting up, you tilt your head in the direction of the voice to see something you could have never expected.
"I can hear your breathing, please identify yourself."
He mutters, causing you to realize the dirty blindfold that covered his face.

@icecubes

My eyes widen. Answer the guy- thing- whatever. "I am definitely not on Earth," I choke out instead, scrambling up to my feet. There's holes in my leggings now, and puffy scratches underneath.
He towered over me, but his height wasn't what had instilled fear in me. Long hair cascades over his chest, and a spider body takes place of what would've been his legs. I don't remember hating spiders, but something tells me they were never half-human or this huge.
"I'm Jenny."

He pauses, raising his arms for a moment, before lowering them back down.
"Who are you, Jenny?" He calls out, clearly holding back walking forward as his demeanor conflicted with his appearance. He may be a towering half-spider hybrid, but he did not seem to acknowledge that. Instead, he almost slouched while fiddling his hands. He patiently awaited a response.

@icecubes

What? What is going on?
I brush out the leaves in my hair. "Who am I? Who are you?" I said defensively. I didn't even know where I was, much less of who I am.

Your deranged confusion warrants a laugh from him as he presents a friendly smile.
"Oh, right, I guess you could say I forgot."
He places a hand on his chest as a gesture towards himself.
"My name is…" He pauses, his smile starting to fade, but then quickly grins again and continues. "Kaiholo." He pauses another moment, as if waiting for something. After nothing happens, he straightens his back.
"I don't suppose you've seen anyone like me around, have you?"

@icecubes

I raise an eyebrow. i love ur laugh. th a n k u se n p a i

I raise an eyebrow, wondering what any of his actions meant. I take a step closer upon realizing he didn't seem to mean any harm. Hopefully.
"I don't suppose you've seen anyone like me around, have you?" he asks. I think about my answer and shrug.
"Considering this is the first time I remember being outside, no, I have not seen anyone like you." I add, "Can I call you Kai, for short?"

Kaiholo nods at your response, not bothering to ask about what it could mean.
"Can I call you Kai, for short?" You mutter, earning another chuckle from him as he nods his head yet again.
"As long as I can call you Jen, for short."
Suddenly, you hear an almost distant yelling.
"Jenny!" It's Celia.
She's nearly in tears as she runs up to you, wrapping her arms around you, Yuki following close behind.
"Are you okay? Are you hurt? Your pants are all scratched up, did something happen?" Celia asked you tons of questions as Yuki shoots Kaiholo a concerned glance.
"What's your name?" Yuki calls out to Kaiholo, holding up his hand in a threatening pose. Almost as if Yuki was ready to fight Kaiholo, except Yuki didn't clench his fists. He held his hand out and open.

@icecubes

"As long as I can call you Jen, for short."
I open my mouth to respond, but am interrupted by the sound of Celia's voice. I nearly lose my balance when the girl crashes into me, shooting seven million questions at once. I try to reassure her that I am fine and I merely tripped.
"What's your name?" Yuki demanded to spider boy, while doing some odd thing with his

hands.

"Woah, woah, woah, hey, chill. This is Kaiholo. I don't think he plans on hurting anyone," I explain, frantically throwing my hands in front of Yuki. "What are you doing?" I squint my eyes at his strange position, my tone more curious than aggressive.
