She leaned away, hands still on his shoulders. Grinning, she lifted a hand to poke his nose.

Ferran giggled. "Don't boop me we're in public!"

She pulled away, laughing. "Oh, I see how it is," Koko pouted, huffing in mock anger.

Ferran frowned. "Don't be mad!" He pulled her back into a hug.

Koko snorted, returning the hug.
"Dork," she muttered.

"Nerd."

"I know you are, but what am I?" Koko smiled.

"Don't start that again." Ferran chuckled.

"Oh, fine." she grumbled. "I should really take off now, though. Just because your mom is gone doesn't mean mine is."

"Right sorry." He realized how long they'd been out. "Yeah mines probably on her way home."

"Yeah…" She began to head back to her house. "Later Ferran!"

"Bye!" He paused. "Wait! We live across the street from each other."

Koko paused as well. "Yes, so?"

"We could walk home together? I don't know…"

Koko was quiet for a moment, then answered, "Alright."

Ferran blushed. "I mean if you don't wanna walk home together I get it."

"No it's okay let's go," she said quickly. She bit her lip, nodding furiously.

Ferran nodded and caught up to her. "So how's your grandma doing? I heard she had cancer or something…"

Koko sighed, frowning. "Yeah, she does… My family has been keeping me in the dark about a lot of it, but from what I do know, she won't be living for too long now."

Ferran put a hand on her shoulder. "Geez dude I'm so sorry."

"I feel so… so helpless." Koko admitted, getting more worked up with each second passing. "She says that she's okay with it, that she's already lived a long and good life and she's content… but…"

"I know….my grandpa went last year, remember?"

"Right. …I hate being helpless."

"I know…I do too."

She couldn't focus on this even more than she already did. She had to change the subject, but to what…?
"When you were saying what you were about prom earlier, did you really mean it? Was that just because of what the girls at school say?" Koko blurted. Oops; she didn't mean to say that. Great.

Ferran blushed. "Uh……" He cleared his throat. "Yeah I meant it. I try not to listen to what everyone says about us."

"Oh…" her voice was faint. "Ok. Y-Yeah, I don't try to either… Heh…"
