Reese took her time the next time and went slow.

A.'s heart beat wildly in her chest, and she struggled to even it back out, desperately hoping Reese wouldn't notice.

A hadn't said anything for a bit. "You alright?" Reese whispered, her voice balancing between care and worry.

"Amazing." She lifted her head to look at Reese, still a bit red, but smiling.

"You're blushing!" Reese pointed out, very surprised.

"No shit."

"Why?"

She blinked. "Because I like you? And the blushing is associated with the weird feeling in my stomach that I've heard referred to as butterflies?"

"You're blushing because you like me?" she asked quietly. Her fingers were moving through A's hair again, and Reese didn't even realize it.

"Y-yeah."

Reese smiled. "I like you too."

"Good, otherwise all of this would be really awkward."

She giggled. "Yeah." Her fingers started over again.

A. leaned into her touch, smiling goofily.

She giggled. "What are you doing?"

"It feels nice."

"What? This?" She ran her fingers through A's hair slowly.

Her face reddened as she nodded. "U-uh huh."

Reese grinned and repeated it again, slower.

She blushed harder and looked away, avoiding Reese's eyes.

Reese looked suddenly worried. "Is it making you uncomfortable?" she asked quietly.

"N-no, like I said, it feels nice. You're just…really pretty. And I'm feeling a lot of weird things." She tried to explain.

Reese blushed. "Like what?"

"Have I-have I mentioned the butterflies?"

"A couple times, yeah," she whispered, her fingers catching in a knot. She slowly worked through it so she wouldn't cause A any pain.

"Well that's, uh, part of it…"

"What's the other part?"

"I-uh-" She cut off, unsure if she should really mention it.

"You don't have to say if you don't want to," Reese said quietly.

"I really really like you, like falling in love like you, and it's probably way too much way too fast but you're pretty? And nice? And I have a soft spot for jocks?" She spoke quickly, still not meeting Reese's eyes, her face managing to get redder at the admission.
