Avilasa gave an acknowledging hum. "My half brother had had a run in with one once. She was sticky. Hard to get rid of." She laughed. "If I hadn't immunized him to the majority of poisons, he'd be in deep trouble right now."

"Immunized to the majority of poisons…?" Sariel echoed, confusion sweeping over her. "Was she trying to kill him?" She asked, leaning back on her hands.

Zackary poked his head out from his flannel, where he was nesting. “Mmm… Lust. Disgusting woman who just wanted my body. I refused her almost every time. I killed her eventually.” He grimaced in remittence.

"Almost?" She echoed, her blue eyes filling with sorrow. She knew what it felt like to be someones plaything. And now she knew that there was no escape unless you were willing to take drastic measures.

Zackary curled back up again with a faint sigh. This sigh was filled more with another croon, but it was less noticeable than the one he displayed earlier. One would have to listen for it. Listen for something that was hardly distinguishable.

Juliet heard it again, that rough sound hidden in a sigh, it was much less noticeable this time, much softer. Yet, she still heard it. Her gaze softed upon him. She set Qhuinn down and moved to sit beside Zackary, on her kneels. "Hey, I'm sorry I even asked its just- It's not everyday you meet a demon- or maybe it is and I'm just not aware. But what i'm trying to say is… I've never met anyone who shares the same story as me…." She sighed. This is harder to explain than I thought. "How about i get you some blankets?"

Zackary uncurled himself and sat up. “No, I don’t need blankets. It’s bad that you had to go through that. Even once.” He looked at her with her sorrow reflected in his eyes. He’s truly been through it more than he could count. As an orphan and as a Contract-Demon. He wasn’t sure if others went through the same thing, but it was his loose regulations that had landed him those… less than enjoyable memories.

Juliet froze as his gaze fell on her. Her heart tense up and her lungs stopped working. "I-I" she stuttered, seemingly lost in that gray gaze. He understands…
This was too much a one time. "I- I'm gonna go check on the dinner. Watch Qhuinn for me." She stood quickly and walked out. Only then could she finally breathe.

Zackary hummed into a faint sigh and looked down at Qhuinn. He wondered how the child sat there so quietly, just watching the pair of adults converse with each other. He smiled a bit and rubbed the child’s head, messing up his hair.

Qhuinn leaned into the touch and hummed softly. Scooting closer, he curled up with Zackary, placing his tiny hands on his cheeks. He then took Zackary's nose into his mouth.

Zackary laughed and hugged the child. “You are just intent on nibbling on my nose, aren’t you?” He hugged the smol close nevertheless.

"Immunized to the majority of poisons…?" Sariel echoed, confusion sweeping over her. "Was she trying to kill him?" She asked, leaning back on her hands.

"No." She walked over to a barred, filthy window. "Not all poisons kill you know. Some of them just leave with internal bleeding, some leave you in a state of constant vomiting, and the one the girl kept trying to use on my brother, would leave you in a comatose state."

Qhuinn squealed and put his short arms around his neck. Juliet listened downstairs, her heartbeat finally calming. She opened the oven and checked on the ham. It would be finished soon. She then closed it and moved to stir the mashed potatoes. They were done. She shut off the oven with shaking hands. That connection scared her more than she thought was possible. Calm down… she told herself.

Zackary set his chin on Qhuinn’s head and sighed. What about a little eye-meeting had frightened her? Was it something he said? His eyes? And what color they were? He’d scared people with his eyes before. How piercing and just how different they were.

Juliet thought about that steel gray gaze as she glazed the ham. He understood… the thought echoed in her mind. Maybe he saw the fear that flashed in her eyes. He knew her fear, he knew her hesitation, he knew her worries. She couldn't decide if that was good or bad, so she fled.

"Sounds as though she was hard get rid of," Sariel said, her voice somewhat quiet. The window, she noticed, was just barely clean enough to see out of. The glass was foggy and the bars appeared to be rusted, matching the rest of the factory. The entire building was one big pile of rust and broken glass.

Zackary shut his eyes. He wished he were a normal Demon, like his father, just drifting around in Hell and doing general ungood. Being unkept and animalistic. Instead he had to be forced into contracts he didn’t want and be forced to give away his body. Have people strut up to him like they owned him, just because of a little contract.

He understands
Juliet pulled the ham out of the oven and breathed in the scent. He was here now, here to protect her. He wasn't going to use her fears against her, he was against those fears himself. He cared for her, for her son.
He cares…
She wouldn't put him through anything remotely unfavorable. She had to trust he would do the same.
"Zack! Dinner's done."

Zackary perked up and stood up with the smol in his arms carefully. He stepped out of the room and down the steps. Their dinner smelled really good. Zackary felt hungrier than before as he walked into the kitchen, his nose in the air.

Juliet was cutting slices and loading up mashes potatoes on plates. She gestured to the larger of the two. "Specially made for you." She smiled. She set both on the table and took Qhuinn. She set him in his high chair.

Avi chuckled. "You have no idea, ended up getting caught by the police, the idiot, when she forgot to dispose of murder weapon after killing a girl." Avi rolled her eyes. She was pretty deadened to human deaths, so she couldn't find any room in her to care about the poor murdered girl. She spun around. "Hey, wanna go get dinner out before I have to move tomorrow? Also, does this contract mean you have to stick by me or will you go find someplace else nearby to me to live? I haven't seen any contracts similar to this one before."

@KoffeeOwl

Standing up and dusting herself off, Sariel began speaking once again. "Oh, sure. And as for the contract, I do have to stay within a certain range of you. However, I don't necessarily have to live with you." As it had been before, Sariel's tone returned to its original flatness as she explained, though it wasn't quite as monotonous.

@Elder-God-Whisper

Avi shrugged. "Ok. Do what you want. I really don't care either way." She strolled over and grabbed a canvas bag and slung it over her shoulder. "What kinda food are you in th mood for? Chinese, Italian, Mexican… there's actually a French restraunt downtown."

Zackary plopped down in a seat and rubbed his hands together. The food looked and smelled amazing.
“It looks wonderful! Thanks!” He grinned up at her, carefully avoiding her gaze and going to his food.

"Yeah…no problem." she smiled. She also began to eat slowly, watching him. Juliet couldn't help be realize… I'm eating dinner with a demon… Though no one would be able to tell by looking at them. There was nothing to distinguish him apart from other humans. Except those eyes.

Zackary crossed his legs together on the chair, set his elbows down on the tabletop and started to cut his ham apart messily. He kept the potatoes and the ham away from each other, though, and started to devour the food hungrily as if he’s never eaten before.

Okay, maybe there were some aspects that marked him more human. Juliet had expected and unearthly grace and poise about him. Like the demons she had read about in books. Yet Zack, he didn't have that about him now. She chuckled slightly.

Zackary was done with his food in about two seconds. A blink of an eye. A flash of a star. Whatever. He sat back, set his legs back down on the floor and burped faintly for the second time that night.
“Mmm…”

Juliet blinked. She looked at his plate, then at hers, then she met his eyes. "You uh…. you want some more? Or maybe something to drink?" She squeaked. She had barely made a dent in her plate and he was done?
