Jessica handed the Starbucks barista 20 dollars, and grabbed her drink. 'I gotta get to school' she thought.
Ash messed up her hair, curling it. Today was a girl day. She grabbed her guitar case, heading out to the streets of New York to play and earn money. It wasn't the most glamorous way to earn money, but it worked for her age. Her brother was who-knows-where and she just needed to keep things going until her brother got back, if he did get back.
As Jessica walked to the subway she heard a girl playing music, and pulled out a twenty, dropping it in.
Ash widened her eyes, looking at the crisp $20 in her case. "That's a first," she muttered. "Hey! Lady!" She ran towards the girl, who turned around looking freaked out.
"Thanks," Ash muttered awkwardly, looking at her feet in the worn-out converse.
"…Your Welcome. When do you normally play?"
"Almost all day, I need some way to make cash."
