This RP is set in a medieval world, so we have knights and castles, and most importantly dragons.
Within this universe, there is a group of people known as Dragoncallers: people who have an innate ability to speak with dragons. They often band together and form secret societies where dragons are protected, because outside of their group, dragons are often feared, and many take to killing them for sport.
Dragoncallers tend to live easy lives, from an economic standpoint. Because of their importance in some parts of society as elite knights on dragonback, they are all provided with at least basic housing, and because they are part of a small village, finding a job is easy. Not all residents of the village have to be able to speak to dragons, although most of them do (sometimes the ability skips generations, and very rarely, outsiders move here), so that also means some Dragoncallers are not from the village. Usually the Gift goes undiscovered, but in some cases, the bearer encounters a dragon, and they are able to communicate.
The village is run by an elder council that dictates everything. They send out patrols, make the rules, and lead any sort of ceremonies, like weddings and funerals. However, they’re old and set in their ways. They’ve also seen a lot, so when the signs of impending doom for the village and all dragons start to show up, they’re slow to act.
Now, it’s up to the younger generation of Dragoncallers to figure out what to do.

I want this to be a fairly serious RP. No one-liners if you can help it, and please, for the love of god, no Mary Sues.
We’re going to keep powers to a minimum. I think someone who practices alchemy is acceptable (and I think I might use my character who can speak to the dead), but less is definitely better here.
Swearing is fine, as long as it’s not constant
Romance is fine, and encouraged, as long as: 1. Both parties agree 2. It doesn’t interfere with main plot 3. You don’t get explicit or gross, because no one needs to see that
LGBTQA+ characters are welcome (but also, don’t make everyone the same sexuality. It gets a little old.)
And this should go without saying, but be nice
