She finally reached the main square and hurried to Rylan's side. "Can you get up?" She shouted by her ear, trying to make herself heard over the noise.

(Wow, nice.)
Santiago sprinted ahead of Harlow to where Rylan was. A guard pointed his gun at him, shouting for him to stop. Santiago sharply smashed the butt of the gun into the side of the man’s head, simply knocking him out. He fell to a crouch next to Rylan. “Oh god, Rylan.”
"I don't think so. . ." Rylan muttered, wincing in pain. Alec was shouting orders and rushing towards them. "We need to get out now."
"Santiago, give me your gun and pick Rylan up. I'll clear a path," she continued, handing him the knife.

“Harlow, can you try and get her out of here? I’ll try and stall Alec,” Santiago said quickly.

Santiago nodded quickly. “I’m going to lift you, Rylan, okay? You tell me if it hurts,” he said, trying to keep from stuttering. He slipped his arms under her as gently as he could and slowly lifted her, cradling her against his chest.
//lmao it's okay, I do that all the time
"Let's go," Harlow said, shooting a man who popped out in front of her. She started hurrying for the car.
Rylan nodded and bit her lip so she wouldn't cry out. She closed her eyes and leaned against Santiago's chest.

Santiago followed after Harlow as quickly as he could without jostling Rylan. He kept her close to his chest, murmuring that things were going to be okay. But he knew they weren’t out of trouble yet.
They almost made it out, but near the exit, were stopped by Alec and some other men and women. Guards and soldiers, most likely. Harlow sighed. "Commander. What a pleasure to see you again."
//is that his title? commander?
( yeah, that's Alec's title )
//are you playing alec?
"Santiago, drop her." He growled, pointing his gun at her head. "She's to be shot by the firing squadron."

Santiago stopped stifly when he saw Alec and the others. His arms and hands shifted over Rylan, doing his best to cover the vital parts of her body, such as her head and chest area.

“You are a sick man, Alec!” Santiago snapped, hate in his eyes.
"What, I don't even get a second look? Disappointing," she sighed. She aimed the gun at his foot and shot.
Alec growled in pain and shot Harlow's shoulder, he turned and pointed his gun at Santiago. "I'll kill you so I can kill her." He said with a deathly calm voice.
Harlow hissed and grabbed her shoulder. "Ow," she muttered, hand pressing against it tightly. "Jerk." She shot the man to his left in the stomach, doing her best to avoid killing him.

“Harlow!” Santiago yelped, his eyes wide. Where the hell were the other Patriots? Were the three left there to die? His looked to Alec, taking a deep breath. “Do whatever the hell you want to me, but I will not allow you to you have her again.”
One of his guards took the bullet and Alec stepped closer to Santiago. The rest of the soldiers pinned Harlow down. "Put her down!" He growled, pointing his gun at Rylan's head.
Harlow yelped and kicked at one of them, hitting her stomach. "Go easy on the shoulder, *ssholes!"

Santiago suddenly wished he hadn’t given his gun to Harlow. “You’ll have to pry her from my cold, bloody hands if you want to achieve that,” he snapped loudly, pressing Rylan’s head to her chest, shifting his arm to cover it.
"Fine." Alec grinned madly and fired his gun at Rylan's leg. She whimpered in pain, her head pressed against Santiago's chest. He shot again at her leg and at Santiago's left shoulder, forcing him to drop Rylan.
Harlow lashed out again, hitting a man in the groin. Luckily, she still had her grip on the gun and wildly shot, hitting another one. "Santiago!" She shouted, tossing him the gun.

Santiago cursed sharply and stumbled back. He snatched up the gun, firing a few shots in Alec’s chest area. He presses a hand to his shoulder, groaning in pain.
Rylan was on the ground, her breathing shallow and shaky. Her brow furrowed in pain as gunshots filled the air. She could hear Theo and a couple other Patriot's voices as they ran towards Santiago and Harlow. She tried to focus on staying away, but black spots danced across her vision. Stay awake. . . Rylan told herself.
"This plan is going great," Harlow muttered, pressing her free hand to her shoulder again. She continued fighting out of the grip, but the last two holding her down were stronger.
She stopped struggling and lay limp, deciding to focus her energy on Rylan, as she could see Theo coming. "Rylan?"
