Cicada paused so she could compose herself before saying, "I'm so sorry. That sounds awful."

Dalton nodded as he pushed the framed picture toward her, "That's him," The child in the photo looked everything like Dalton except much younger.

Cicada took the photo, "He looks adorable. What was he like?"

"Braindead," Dalton responded with a salty tone.

Cicada rolled her eyes, "Before he was braindead."

Dalton smiled, "He's the smartest little kid ever, he memorized all the presidents and their history. He's also obsessed with dinosaurs, he talked about them all the time!" Talking about his brother made him seem like less of a jerk.

Cicada smiled softly, "He sounds like a great kid."

"He was," Dalton said in a correcting tone. "He was my best friend." That explained why he had an aversion to making friends now.

"Oh," Cicada said sadly, "Right."

Harley smiled and started playing with shadow, making shapes in the ground “ I won’t hurt an illusionist, their powerful.” She smiled showing her teeth

Alex made the illusion in front of Harley and made herself visible behind her. "Then be warned I am a dangerous person. No one sticks around anyway so why should you?" She asked suspiciously.

"Oh," Cicada said sadly, "Right."

"It's fine," Dalton sad grabbing the picture back, "I don't tell people because I don't want them to see me any differently."

Cicada nodded, "Okay then I won't."

"Thank you," He sighed.

"C-Can I tell you something?" Cicada asked.

"Of course,"

"When I was a kid my powers started to get more wild. one day they got really out of hand, my parents tried to calm me down. Tried to stop me. they ended up burning alive instead. Everyone blamed it on a freak accident rather than me. I get sent into foster care and that was the end of it. At least until it happened again, and…" Cicada took a shaky breath. Her eyes had filled with tears, "I killed all the kids in the foster home. And the parents. That's why I'm here."

Dalton held in a gasp, "We have something in common then I guess. Neither of us mean to hurt people but somehow…" His words trailed off.

"We end up hurting everyone," Cicada finished the sentence with a sigh.

Dalton nodded sorrowfully, "Exactly,"

Cicada leaned back on the bed, "Why is life so cruel?"

"I don't know,"

Cicada closed her eyes, "I'm tired. I think I'll get some sleep."

"Me too," Dalton said smashing his face into the pillow, "Goodnight," he said though it was muffled.

Cicada responded as she moved to the pillow, "Night."

Dalton sighed and straightened his picture out on his bedside. "Goodnight," He whispered to his brother as if he could hear him.

“Because we all need a reason to stay strong.” She said quietly. Her family had died in a car crash and it was her fault.

"You dont know what Im capable of." She whispered in fright. (I feel mean, but I purposly want someones charater to go up and scare her.)
