Elementals Chapter 4: Celestial Tides (OPEN)

In the beginning, there spawned Earth's four elements. From them they created life. From each element, were born a child. For years the elders have watched over the planet, guiding them. When it was their time, they swore to be reincarnated. Over twenty thousand years and the elementals were forgotten. legends speak of the children born of every aspect of life: Light, darkness, earth, air, water, fire, metal, plasma, sound, nature, time, and space.

Ignis, a twenty year old, discovers several of his ancestors were among the Elementals. With this knowledge came with a price, he had to defend the Earth from the dangers that awaited.

Name: Marlin

Short Backstory: He was an orphan who lived in an orphanage until he was old enough to become a soldier, he joined a patrol group and they are his new family.
Personality: He's a total goof ball. Never takes things seriously, loud, friendly, and outgoing. Sometimes he can be annoying but that's part of being an extrovert.

Short Backstory: Ignis was a total nerd for the supernatural. Everything from religion, legends, to myths. He was widely known in his town. He was friends to everyone, but everyone knew there was more to him than he let on…
Personality: Ignis is very shy at first when meeting those new. Everything changes as he feels more comfortable. If known, he is very adventurous and curious. He loves to express his abilities and likes to take on any challenge.

Ignis walked among the shadows as he made his way out of town. He wanted to explore the nearby forest and rest in it's beauty and peace. He had heard of a patrol coming through town, and he didn't want to be around.

(Sorry, question. Is Marlin part of that patrol? I guess I can make him if that works for the story.)

Marlin had just gotten of his shift, and was supposed to be in his bunk finishing the daily report, but instead he was looking for somewhere to eat. He had spent all his money on new shoes, and now he had barely any left for food, so he was walking through alleyways looking for a little shop that sold cheap sandwiches. Stupid new shoes. But they were so shiny, he couldn't not buy them.

Name: Tricia (Everyone calls her Trish)
Age: 19
Element: Metal
Gender: Female
Short Backstory: She was raised by her single father and his workmates, they were all miners so she grew up around the shafts and tunnels. Trish grew up sooty and tough, but is a total sweetheart as soon as she trusts you. She always knew were the precious jewels were and could never explain why, she just knew she was wired different.
Personality:
Trish can come off as a tomboy, tough all the way through and closed off to anyone who she doesn't consider her family. The mine is her life, she's treated as the good luck charm and everyones daughter, so she's become quite introverted. But as soon as she trusts you, her familia love is eternal and she would die for those she loves.

Ignis approached the center of the forest, the ground was a large stone platform. Ignis looked around to make sure he was not followed. he stands in the middle of the platform, "I am the son of the eternal flame. Descendant of Ignatias, child of fire." He then begins to conjure fire, dancing around and producing a glow many do not notice. He always found his ability fascinating, it's heat and light as if it was life itself.

(are we all living in the same town, or would you prefer for me to come in later?)

Marlin was sitting on a stone wall looking into the forest,and eating his cheap sandwich shop food. It was almost dark, he needed to start going home, but he didn't want to join in the paperwork, so he decided to stay a little longer.

The light from the fire in the woods brightened as night came. Many believed it was a wild fire, others believed it was a sign of Ignatias, the fire elemental. Many locals believed sprits still wondered throughout the world. Some newer folks think they only tell legends and myths.

Marlin saw a flicker of light out of the corner of his eye, but when he turned to look it was gone. Had it been his imagination? Yeah probably. Was he going to walk into the forest all by him self to know for sure? Yes.
He hopped down from his spot on the wall and headed towards the place where the trees began.

The flames had cleared as the cool breeze of night emerged. Ignis sat down and meditated before heading back to the village. His eyes lit up with a fire and Ignis was surrounded by a ring of fire. "Ignatias, father of Life and brother of the Elementals. I call upon your eternal flame, that it may guide me and protect me…"

Marlin stumbled through the woods, he couldn't see much, but there was a faint glow ahead of him. For a moment he was afraid he had found a wildfire, but it didn't seem to be moving through the trees. Maybe it was controlled? A bonfire one of the villagers had started. But why would anyone start a bonfire in the woods?

The very stone underneath Ignis began to glow. This event surprised him. He quickly extinguished the flames and ran behind the nearest tree. However, a ball of purple flame darted at Ignis, passing through the tree. Ignis' heart was attacked as the very tree began to catch fire. Ignis lost conscious as the very woods around him started to burn.

Marlin wasn't sure exactly what had happened, but now the trees were on fire. He started running towards it, yelling for someone to help even though he was pretty sure no one could hear him.
He came to a stone platform, almost tripped over it actually, the fire was all around him now. He started stomping on burning leaves, desperately trying to put out a wildfire himself. And still yelling for help.

As Ignis began to regain consciousness, he started to hear someone yell for help. Ignis couldn't see anything but the brightness of the flames, he could feel the heat and suddenly realized the situation.

Marlin cursed, he wasn't helping at all the flames were getting bigger. A spark flew up and landed on his arm. Yelping he jumped away and fell against a tree, skinning his elbow on the rough bark.
