The sickness was caused by blood infections, causing the elks heart and lungs to slow. It lowers the body heat, forcing the infected elk to rely on a light or fimilar for a heat source. In severe cases the elks heart could stop, they lose there voice or hearing, and can even inhibit magic usage for a short time. First signs are cough and loss
Of heat, sometimes will force elks into a heat period to produce needed warmth.
