Eve relaxed as Anya laughed. She was worried she'd messed something up. "I love you too, babe."

"I don't want you to be uncomfortable," Eve whispered. "If I ever make you feel that way, please tell me."

"Go to sleep now, darling. We have to get up in the morning as functioning members of society." Eve's fingers gently stroked Anya's hair to relax her and put her to sleep.

"I will," Eve promised, but she had no intention of doing so. Anya would be protected, whatever it took. Her nightmares were too realistic. She couldn't let what she'd seen in her visions actually take place.

Eve cuddled her girlfriend as she slept and whispered softly once she was sure Anya was asleep. "I won't let anyone hurt you, Anya. No one." The morning came too slowly for Eve, and by the time the sun peeked through the curtains, she was exhausted.

Feeling her partner wake up, Eve quickly pretended to be asleep so Anya wouldn't worry.

Eve's reaction was natural. Her eyes fluttered open, and as she "woke up," she kissed Anya back sweetly. "Good morning, my darling," she murmured. "How did you sleep?"

"Mmm, good," Eve replied as well. She smiled and placed a soft kiss on Anya's forehead.

"You're a day earlier, my dear. Today is Friday, and my mother is expecting us in her office before our first class," Eve answered.

Eve nodded. She slipped off the bed and went to her closet to get dressed.

Eve returned seconds later with clothes in her arms. She freely checked out her girlfriend's body, and her eyes locked on the scars. "Anya…"

"What happened?" Eve was at her side in an instant. "Who did this?"

"Who?" she demanded, and there was a strange edge to her tone.

Eve's fingers curled into fists. "Where is he now?"

"Anya, please tell me where he is," Eve begged. She cupped Anya's cheek gently.
