Glitches // OxO // Closed

Nyx looked at it, fingers tracing over the clothing. He blinked slowly. "I think these would work." He replied with a quick smile, glancing up at Jude. "If you're willing to let me borrow them."

Jude scoffed, "Man, take em'. I wasn't gonna wear them anyway. They would just be sitting in my car, waiting to be taken to Goodwill." He shrugged, "Cashmere's nice, yeah."

"Alright." Nyx replied. "Uhm…where should I change?" He asked, a little shy about changing in front of the other male. He didn't want Jude to see how much of him wasn't there, he realized. He didn't want…he didn't want to expose so much of himself, of the wires and metal that made up so much of his body.

"I'll just…" Jude motioned to the door, "Go have a smoke, and come back whenever." He nodded, searching for his pack in his deep pockets. "But you don't gotta be shy," He shrugged with a crooked smile.

Nyx wrinkled his nose. "Go, then." He shook his head a little. "I'm not shy. I just don't feel like stripping in front of you." He replied, taking the clothes in his hands and unable to refrain from petting the sweater.

Didn't seem like that at the field. He thought, a shiver of pain going through him at the memory of the day. He nodded and went for the door, zipping up his sweater as he walked through.

Once Jude was gone, Nyx changed into the clothes, smoothing them out and looking down at himself, then came out and into the parking lot. "There." He said.

"Hm." Jude nodded, eyeing Nyx up and down. "Very nice." He said, breathing the smoke out of his nose and smirking a bit. "Very classy." He nodded again.

Nyx wrinkled his nose a little bit, not quite sure what Jude was doing. "Are you, er…okay to drive?" He asked slowly. "With the…drugs?"

Jude smile disappeared at the mention, another reminder of his vices, "Yeah, yeah." He nodded, taking a final drag of his cigarette, "It's not like that…'s like a back burner type of thing." He said, not sure if Nyx would get what he meant.

Nyx blinked slowly. "I-I uhm…I don't understand." He replied slowly, ashamed to admit that. That he didn't know anything about… anything. That all these little turns of phrase meant nothing to him.

"Well, morphine just doesn't affect you in that way. At least for me." He said casually, shrugging as he stared at his tattered converse. "It means that once the initial high's over, it's just like a buzz. Quiet."

"Oh." Nyx replied slowly. "Alright." he glanced at the car, biting his lip slightly.

"You wanna go?" Jude said as he followed Nyx's gaze, "Okay then. Let's go." He shrugged, throwing his cigarette butt and moving on.

Nyx nodded a little, and got into the car. He took a deep breath. "I uhm…I'm sorry if I hurt you with the…questions…" he said slowly.

"Questions?" Jude asked, not knowing what he meant and clipping in his seatbelt, "What do y- what questions?" The car roared to life with Jude's twist of his keys, and the early afternoon light was casting faint shadows across the narrow street corner.

"About the…everything." Nyx shook his head a little. "Because I don't understand half of what you say sometimes, and I…" he shrugged slightly, running a hand through his hair again and looking out the window.

"You don't have to worry about that." Jude said, pulling a pair of sunglasses on before moving out of the driveway, "I know that you don't get some stuff, and that's not your fault. And…I'm patient, so yeah. Don't worry about it." He smiled.

"Alright." Nyx replied, taking a deep breath. "Sorry. I just…yeah." his fingers lingered in his hair, pulling at it a little bit, and wondering at its softness.

Jude chuckled before glancing at Nyx and his lost expression. "What are you thinkin' about?" He asked, merging onto a main road that would lead them nearly straight to The Met. God, I love New York. He sighed, silently thanking the designers of the city for its grid system.

Nyx shrugged. "I don't know. I just…this is different." He ran his fingers along the car door, feeling the plasticy surface curiously. He took a deep breath.

"Hm." Jude smiled at Nyx, admiring the way he was curious about everything, "One day, I'll take you to a beach." He nodded, "Yeah. Once we finish up with this, you'll be good to go. Me and the boys used to jump off cliffs into the river, it's a lot of fun."

Nyx glanced at him. "The beach…I'm not sure that sand and salt water would be good for my circuits. I don't want to get in the water and then end up dying."

"Well I mean, If we get you completely…'covered,' would it still be bad?" He asked, beeping his horn at a jaywalker, "I don't know if you'll like it, but swimming id pretty damn nice."

"I don't know. I might…I don't know if I'd be able to swim. Metal sinks easier and quicker than flesh." Nyx replied slowly. He blinked at the beep.

"Well, maybe I'll teach you." Jude shrugged, "You're a fast learner, so maybe it won't be so bad." He sighed, thinking about the night they danced, how fast Nyx learned the patterned steps against the soft piano music.

Nyx bit his lip. The dancing, the… everything. "I have to be a fast learner. It's programmed into my head." He replied with a shrug. "If I wasn't…" He ran his hands through his hair again.

Jude smiled but shook his head. Nyx always did this. He would say something nice about him– like when they first met, and he would return it with something dismal and almost self-deprecating, because he hated the fact he was like this.
"I'm just sayin," Jude gestured, "We could work something out, I think. –I think you're gonna want to do everything you can, once you…leave."

Nyx shrugged a little bit. "Maybe. I just…I don't know." He still wasn't sure he would ever be able to leave. Ever be able to truly fit in in the world. And maybe he wouldn't. He didn't know.

Jude saw the banners for the museum coming up ahead, "Things'll work out, you'll see." He smiled, though his eyes were solemn underneath the sunglasses. "We just need ti– tell me if you see any spots." Jude's thoughts interrupted, his eyes scanning for a parking space nearby.
