"you know you are doing the creepy twin thing again," Maddie said wile cleaning blood out from under her nails. "You know when you talk at the same time."

"We know perfectly well." Cade and Chelsea shrugged. Cade regained his composure so the two were walking at the exact same pace again.

"Ok, not that it bothers me," but it might creep other people out who aren't used to it she add in her head.

Althea looked back and waved her hand “Cornelius! Over her! We’re going to find a new place. Come with us!”

Cornelius blinked. "Okay. I didn't even know we had a place…"

“Yeah we just cleaned it up. You were off who knows where so we started packing up.” Altheia replied

“Oh, we are?” Reyna said, genuine confusion spreading across her face for a moment. She stooped to pick up her bag before assuming ver vaguely passive aggressive character.

Jaxen looked up from the ground, “Wait, what are we doing?” Jaxen asked when he came back to reality from zoning out.

“Moving, apparently,” she said, glancing at him before plucking a leaf off a tree and letting it fall dramatically.

Altheia rolled her eyes while smiling “come on we need to start moving. Who knows what will show up. The deeper we go in the forest the worse the monsters get.” She said with a hardened face.

“The deeper we go, the worse the wounds, just like the cry of the crow,” Reyna sang under her breath. It was some nonsensical song she’d heard when she was a kid, and it was all she remembered about being seven years old.

"Every step we've taken, the deeper the darkness goes, could it be we've been mistaken?" Madelyn answered with the second line of an old song from an old memory. She wasn't quite able to place the song or remember where she learned it.

Altheia shivered at the lyrics of the song. They were not happy.

“Mistaken or not, we can’t be caught, so deeper into darkness we go,” she continued, shouldering her pack.

Clapping her hand “ Ok in a happier note we should go before something comes to kill us again.” She replied

Maddie quietly sang the next line wile fallowing Altheia as she lead them trough the woods. "The righteous path we started on, has turned to endless woe, so step by step we continue down this winding road."

SNAP A twig snapped

“Ignore the eyes that watch us, tune out the whispering tongues, don’t mind the road of dust ahead of us… and continue on we must,” she followed, seemingly ignoring Altheia’s comment about dangerous creatures.

Althea whipped around “guys do t move fast but there is a Griffin behind us.” She said in a low voice
