Alan frowned. "Doug, I'm 5'11. That's not that short." He looked up. "Guys, we should get on the train. Want to share a compartment?"

(@ShadeStar I think Melissa and Rowan would get along really well together, what House is Rowan in/going to be in?)
(Slytherin.)
(So is Melissa! Is it ok if they become really good friends?)

(Yay!!!)
"Oh sure. I don't know if you're talking to me but I don't have anyone else to sit with." Helen said with a small smile.
Rowan wrote something else down her paper, "Can I sit with you guys?"
Alan nodded. "Sure can!"
"Yeah, let's sit together. What houses are you/do you hope to be in?"
"I'm Ravenclaw." Alan said as they boarded the train.
"And as he knows, I'm Slytherin. Fun fact: Merlin, the most prominent and famous wizard of all time was a Slytherin."
"Hufflepuff." Helen said and Fira gave a quiet hoot.
"I think that's a pretty common fact, Doug."
"Did you just say / out loud?" Rowan wrote down, "And I don't know any of the houses. This is all very new to me."
Melissa had no idea what was happening until she found herself sitting next to the girl with parchment and the boy she'd bumped into in a compartment on the Hogwarts Express. Her carry-on valise was still clutched in her arms.
She read the girl's paper and whispered in her ear, "There are four Houses. Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, and Hufflepuff. We'll get Sorted into one tonight."
"So who here plays or is interested in quiditch?"
Oh, Rowan wrote down, Thank you!
(Changing my format italics is written down and quotations are signed.)
"I'd like to be a Chaser," Melissa murmured to herself. She'd always wanted to try Quidditch, but she was definitely no good with a broom.
Alan nodded. "It's interesting to watch, but I tried out in first year. Never got on a broom again." He shuddered.
Helen shook her head. "Nope. I don't play but I like to watch."
What's 'Quidditch'? Rowan showed her paper to Melissa.
"A wizarding sport. 7 players fly around on brooms. I can explain a bit more later. It's complicated," Melissa explained.
"You kind of need to see it to understand." Helen said to the younger girl. "Are your parents muggles?"
Okay, Rowan wrote back.
"Are your parent's wizards?" Melissa translated Helen's question for Rowan.
"I would totally play Quidditch. Proud Chaser for several years running."
"Are you going to play national after Hogwarts, Doug?"
"Probably. I'm going out for Seeker this year."
Alan nodded.
"Are your parents wizards?" Melissa repeated.
