Evander made sure he had his things packed up, then he ran off to Flitwick's class just before the lesson started. He found a seat in the back.

Oliver took a seat towards the front of the class, understanding that plenty of other people hated Charms and wanted to sit towards the back.
"Come on, slowpokes!" Reyna grabbed Lynn and Cho's hands and pulled them from the dining hall.

Ash quickly finished her muffin and rushed off to Charms. She sighed, making it just in time and taking her normal seat in the middle of the front row with her group of friends.
Reyna pulled her friends into the Potions room just in time. Snape sneered slightly as they sat down, but said nothing. "You're welcome," Reyna hissed to Lynn and Cho. Cho rolled her eyes with a smirk.

Professor Flitwick made his way to the front of the class, standing on a stack of books so the class could see him. "Today," he began, "we will be turning vinegar into wine." He demonstrated by taking out a small clear glass of vinegar and with the flick of his wand, it turned a deep crimson red.
Ash and her friends laughed at today's lesson. "Will we get to drink the wine?" her friend, Luke, shouted jokingly towards Professor Flitwick.

Flitwick ignored the comment that someone to the left of Oliver had made. "Now, at first sight, this spell seems to change one thing into another, rather than adding properties to it. This would technically make it a Transfiguration spell. However, when one considers that vinegar is produced through the oxidation of ethanol, you will see that what this charm does is revert that naturally occurring mechanism and not transform one thing to another. This makes it a Charms spell."

Evander took notes from where he sat and raised his hand. "Are there any other spells out there like this, professor?"
Ash jotted down what Flitwick had said before turning to Luke to whisper and giggle more. "Why are we learning a spell like this?" she whispered to him. "I don't think he realizes that people are going to use this the wrong way." Luke replied with a chuckle.

Professor Flitwick turned to look at someone sitting behind Oliver. "Not that we will be learning this year, Mister Watson." The professor flicked his wand, causing small goblets of vinegar to appear in front of each student. Oliver gagged at the smell. "Alright, now you try." Flitwick ordered.

"Seems awfully similar to alchemy," Evander murmured to the girl next to him, who agreed.
He lifted up his wand and practiced the motion before jumping straight into the spell.

Oliver took his wand from the table and pointed it at the goblet, murmuring the charm to himself. It took a few seconds, but the smelly vinegar swirled into a deep red wine, providing another smell that Oliver wasn't too fond of.
Ash was actually trying to preform the spell when Luke's goblet suddenly exploded beside her. "What did you do?!" she yelled at him and jumped away from his icy desk with a laugh. "Sorry Professor. I'll clean that up." Luke told Professor Flitwick as he waved his wand and his goblet fixed itself and the ice vanished.
