She gave a slow nod, puzzling out the words one at a time. "I see."
She laughed softly and stood "don't worry, you'll see some soon."
Perrie gave her a soft smile. "Alright. Do you have another place in mind?"
She thought for a moment "There is one more. She stepped carefully over the ruin rubble.
Perrie followed her, picking her way between rocks and clumps of dirt.
"you know of the shrines and temples set up for gods, correct?" She asked as she led the way through the ruins
She nodded, remembering the dozens of structures of that purpose she'd seen before.
"the gods can use them as well." She led her to a chining path to a small shrine, shrouded by beautiful plants and flowers. It's the only vegetation here."
"It's beautiful. Who's it for?" She asked. The shrines she'd seen always had the mortal's representation of those they wished to honor, but she had a feeling this shrine could be for multiple people.
The deer bowed in respect to the shrine "Gaia, his mother who protected him from Cronos." She explained quietly, not wanting to disturb the peace "Zeus only allowed for vegetation to be grown here because She is his mother too."
"Oh." Perrie breathed out the word, starting to understand what made it so special. She dipped her head with respect, tracing her own ancestry back to the ancient mother.
The deer nodded "she saw the god in him that no one else did. Saved his life in fact." she reached the shrine and dipped her head in a bow "Oh ancient one," she whispered
Perrie stayed still for a moment, her eyes wandering over it. On the surface, they had no shrines as meaningful as this one. She'd never seen anything like it.
The deer finally rose and smiled "the only only one to show himself some compassion."
Perrie cocked her head, coming out of her silent reverie. "Really? That's awful."
She nodded " but as you can see, hrs managed." She walked along the path "come, there's more." She headed towards a white marble fountain, simple yet very fitting in it's surroundings
Perrie followed her, taking one last glance at the shrine before looking over to the fountain.
"It's his favorite place in all of the Underworld. It's also one he dreads. It brings him back to the time his mother risked her life for him." she explained
Perrie looked over to the deer. "And he built all of this? To remember her?" She asked quietly.
The deer nodded "Yes, and he tends to it regularly."
Perrie gave a small appreciative nod to it. It certainly looked well tended.
They passed the fountain and headed deeper into the shrine
Perrie followed her, still picking her way along carefully to avoid the small puddles and fallen leaves.
"he's grateful, for this little piece of hevean." She said softly
"It really is amazing." Perrie whispered back, letting the quiet fall. This was the kind of place where you felt you had to be quiet, a respectful quiet.
The deer lied down and nodded "you can continue to explore. I'll be here if you'd like to ask questions."
Perrie nodded and slid away to explore. She wandered to the other side of the fountain, lost in thought and the quiet of the place.
The deer glanced around, making sure Perrie was out of sight "you can come out, your highness." She said to the shadow in the corner
Perrie, unaware, sat down on the edge of a rock and trailed her fingers over the smoothness.
