"NO! MARIA!!!" Eva sobbed. She then said, suddenly, "I offer to take her place as tribute!" the crowd murmered, nothing like this had happened for years.

“Oo, a volunteer? Haven’t had one of those in awhile!” He chuckled. “Well, Dear, I’m sure you’re excited, but we really must go by tradition and let Maria come up. Just give it a moment!” He trilled.

Maria walked up. She was trembling, in tears, really.

“Now, do we have any volunteers?” He laughed, once Mari was up on the stage.

"Me. I will take the place of my sister." she said, again. Eva was shaking, she couldn't have Maria carted off.

“Lovely! Come on up dear. Someone take this poor little girl back to the group,” he said cheerily, passing Maria off to a guard. “And what is your name, young lady?”

"Eva, Eva sunshine." she said, numbly.

“Well, I’d bet my hair dye you two are siblings. And everyone here knows I love my hair dye,” he burst into giggles. “And now for the boys!” He drew another slip of paper. “Hawk Madden!”

//that’s the name younsaid, right?

"Hawk…" Eva said. But she noticed the crowd doing something. They put three fingers to their lips, and put them in the air, high as their arms could reach. I must not cry, if I show weakness, that could get me dead. But Eva cried anyways, tears glistening in the sun.

Beta was worried even through she had prepared all her life for this day. “Happy Hunger Games! May the odds be ever in your favor!” The announcer called. “First the Female Tribute.” He picked a slip from the bowl. “Beta Morwood!.” Beta looked around, then walked up to the stage. “Now for the Male Tribute. (Insert Name Here)”
