(A Dystopia RP with fantasy elements. I don't think I've seen one with fantasy elements yet, so here goes.)
You've grown up your whole life hearing tales about the utopia that our nation once was.
A secret tale whispered in your ear by an elderly dwarf (no telling how old she was. It gets hard to tell when their beards start dragging on the floor), a small snippet that one human neighbor remembers with a fond smile. We all have some inkling of what happened in the past, but no one dares ask about this kind of thing publicly. Not unless you want to be reported to the police and hauled off the the elven tribunal and be imprisoned for possible 'treason'.
Anyway, back to the story of the past utopia.
Pandora. Lovely name, right? Perfect name for a lovely place. It was beautiful. All species living in harmony, technology at it's peak, beautiful architecture and flora all blending together and sharing the same place. Did I mention it was beautiful?
So what went wrong you ask (Actually, I don't know if you're asking, I'm just assuming you are), what could possibly go wrong in this wonderful age of peace and prosperity?
Well… the elves went wrong. That's what.
They had this thing for progressiveness. Their ultimate goal was digging to the deepest depths of the earth and soaring to the stars. Seeing how far they could explore, what new things could be made from the spoils of Pandora.
And doing that required access to secluded mountains, forests, and gulfs. These places were nearly untouched and rich in resources.
See, the dwarf clans of the mountains, the nymph citizens of the forests, and the various denizens of the sea, had all denied them access to these sanctuaries. They were backed up by the various human nations, too. Pandora was too precious a place to scar with pollution and mining operations.
Welp, the elves thought otherwise. They declared war on the other peoples of Pandora, determined that the land was theirs to exploit. They won. Big time. Forests were decimated, oceans polluted, and mountains mined hollow. Great cities of metal were erected, 'havens' for those whose homes had been destroyed in the desolation of Pandora. It's all we have now. And it sucks.
A hundred and fifty years after all that hell, some of us are fired up and tired of the ways things have been. The reigning elven government insists that everything is fine, but the rumors fly, and there's word that there is a fighting band of rebels who have found a hidden realm that possesses the key to reviving the nearly dead Pandora…
(High five if you read through that piece of crap that's a poor excuse for writing)
So, we're a small group of friends who have heard the rumors mentioned above. And we want to find them.
