Sasha skulked along the city line. She smelled all kinds of interesting things that she'd like to go poke her nose into but heard frantic woman screams.
"Please, you have my money! Please just go!"
"Shut up, (bad word). You'll make people suspicious."
Sasha followed a scent and found the two humans. The woman smelled scared. Weird. Sasha bounded over and barked up at the man.
"Go away." He aimed a kick.
Sasha scrambled out of the way and jumped up and bit him.
He screamed and let the woman go, and in the process dropped her stuff. Shaking, the woman picked her purse up and gave Sasha a treat. "Bless you." She murmured to her before running out of the alley.
Sasha finished the treat. Treats were good.

Lupin heard a scuffle and a woman speaking and trotted over. He had lived alone for as long as he could remember, which wasn't very long, and he was very thin. His ribs showed even through his thick, fluffy fur, but his eyes were still bright and curious. He poked his head out from the corner of an alleyway, soon leaving it and padding over the sidewalk to investigate.

She passed him and stopped. "Hello," she crooned. "Are you the puppy to that dog over there?" She pointed back to a tail, which was whipping away. "Well, she's gone now, but she was in the same right state. Here, have a treat, dear." She put a treat down and walked away.

Treat? Lupin sniffed the food before eating it. Mmm… good, seems edible enough. He sniffed the air and followed the scent of the dog that the human had pointed at. "Hello?" His voice came out as a small yip. "Are you there? Who are you?"

"Hmmm?" Sasha looked over her shoulder. "May I ask who you are?" His scent hit her nostrils. A puppy.

"My name's Lupin." He stepped forward so that Sasha could see him. He was smaller than he should have been for a puppy of his breed due to malnutrition.

Sasha padded over and sniffed him. "I'm Sasha. How old are you, Lupin? Run away from home?"

"I think I'm about two months old now, and I don't have a home." Lupin watched Sasha as she circled him.
