Alex strolled in with nothing but two suitcases and a pack of cigarettes sticking out of her back pocket. She felt embarrassed at the lack of things she brought to her dorm.

"Well, hello there," Eryon said to the girl who'd just entered the dorm

"Hi," Alex said with a smile. She set her suitcase down and reached for a cigarette, but stopped herself. That was not the first impression she wanted to make. "Sorry, I didn't bring much."

"Hey, that's alright, I didn't bring much either." She gestured to her bags.

"I guess we'll have to make do with what we have." Her fingers twitched. She pulled the cigarette pack out of her pocket and shoved it into her bag, so she wouldn't be tempted to smoke. "Ignore that," she said casually.

Anida emerges from the bathroom. "Oh hey, I'm Anida. How are you doing today?"

"Pretty good. I figure you're my roomate? I'm Alex."

"Yeah, I am. Nice to meet you, Alex."

"So…." Alex said, not knowing what to say.

Anita couldn't help but notice the pack of cigarettes in Alex's bag. She hadn't smoked since she got in America. She had a craving. "Hey, you want to go talk outside?" She said nodding to Alex's bag.

Alex's eyes traveled back to her bag, and then to Anita. She got the message and nodded. Turning to Eryon, she said, "We'll be right back." Grabbing her back, she started to walk outside.

"So, who introduced you to smoking?" Anita hated her story, but she had to ask.

(I'll be back in three mins. Have to change classes.)

"Well, I kind of did. When I turned 18 I bought a pack of cigarettes at the store. But I guess my parents influenced that choice, since they were heavy smokers." She opened to door to outside and grabbed her pack of cigarettes and a lighter.
